        *BREAKING NEWS*

        Dec 16

$38,000,000 Lands 1B Shiraishi for Freedom: The Freedom and Heishu Shiraishi appeared before the Philadelphia media today as the two sides emerged from marathon contract talks.

Shiraishi, a first baseman, is poised to make $38,000,000 over 4 years.

Shiraishi has a career .280 average with 963 hits, including 183 doubles, 16 triples and 101 homers, collected 403 RBIs, scored 568 runs and compiled a .380 OBP.

        ________________________________

Cleveland Inks Star 2B to $4,500,000 Deal: The Cleveland Buckeyes have called a press conference later today to announce the signing of second baseman Tom Moore to a 3-year, $4,500,000 contract.

Both Moore and the Buckeyes are said to be very pleased to come to this agreement.

In his career Moore has played in 675 games, totaling 708 hits, 116 doubles, 14 triples and 15 homers. He has hit .283 with 234 RBIs and scored 302 times.

        __________________________________

Star 1B Camilo Settles on Cleveland: Cleveland fans embraced the signing of Alexis Camilo today with a few doubts. While most were appreciative that the club had signed a solid ballplayer, they were also concerned about his reputation as a "me first" kind of guy.

Camilo was signed for $88,000,000 over 4 years.

In his career Camilo has racked up 1218 hits with a .275 average and .351 on-base percentage. His numbers include 262 doubles, 13 triples, and 224 home runs, along with 662 runs scored and 737 RBIs.

        ____________________________________

Los Angeles Wins Lottery for SP Bryant: The Dinos pulled out all the stops today to announce the signing of starting pitcher Pat Bryant. The 31-year-old is one of the game's preeminent playmakers and has definitely proven why he was such an attractive signing.

The contract is a 5-year deal worth $84,000,000.

The 31-year-old Bryant has sat down 1076 batters on strikes, walked 407 and put up a 2.29 ERA. His career won-lost record is 80-31.

Interested in seeing the contract breakdown for Camilo. Post that for those with no file, if you can. I didn't get involved with Bryant or Memmoli. I thought Bryant would last longer in FA due to his injury history.

I just saw the HTML was updated. I commend Andrew for not making the final year a team option for 30 million just to drive the average per year up.

No kidding. I'm starting to learn my lesson on those bad contracts. Might have to take the new Red Sox approach from here on out.

Thanks. Still think there should be a rule to prevent that. Was I bidding against myself for Camilo? He may end up being dead weight in the final year or two of this contract but I won't really have many good players to re-sign until after his deal ends.
