They've won 3 straight titles. They fit better. You won 78 games last season. You won your title in 2001.

It's also why I'm not sure I get past the wildcard. This team hasn't won shit.

    Oh, and fuck off.

Yeah. Being 4.5 games out sort of eliminates us from any talks. But I don't attribute it to the Morris trade. A lot of my players turned it up after he left. We were 6th in BA before the trade and as high as 2nd a couple of sims ago. It all comes down to pitching. Too many bad, bad pitchers to even consider making a run for it.

I have a bad feeling and think we may end up blowing this lead. I believe we were up on Pawtuckett in the late 90's by 3 maybe even 4 games going into the last week and I think we lost it outright (maybe went to a Lonnie game but I know we missed the playoffs). Especially with him playing Hartford and me Maine it could very well be tied going into our 4 games series. If so I think our youth kills us.

              Fuck.

Ok I'm at home now and I'm not discussing this at work while trying to figure out how to get those annoying assays to work.

The OPS+ stat tells it all. That factors in the EXTRA 25 home runs that Ladd would magically hit in our park (as if all of the home runs in Baltimore are barely getting over the 60 ft right field wall). Hamilton is at 170+. Sorting through players with 300+ at bats, there are only 3 players with a higher OPS+. Unsurprisingly, Ladd is not one of them. There are only 5 players with .400+ wOBA. Don't see Ladd there either. Ladd has 180 more at-bats, yet only 6 more doubles (which Baltimore is notorious for limiting) and just 26 more walks.

You know what else doesn't change from park to park? Strikeouts. And Ladd has 77 MORE STRIKEOUTS than Hamilton. You don't have to look any further than that. Nearly 40% of the extra 180 AB that Ladd has are strikeouts and "park factors" are not going to help him with that.

Like I said, it's is not even close.

This week is nothing but resting people and setting up the rotation for the playoffs.

The highlight for us is highly touted pitching prospect Tyler Kling will get two starts this week. Interested to see how he does. I think he's a year or two away but this will be a little sneak preview for him.

You know me. I don't rest anyone. Only to get the rotation set and avoid a crazy injury on the last week.

Or are you making a joke?

                                Making a joke...but a little serious.

I've been in a habit of going six man and resting guys regularly because I've been dominating the Stout the past few years. This year, I was behind DVS from the first month and just pacing in the wildcard race. I have switched to five-man rotation just this last sim. It's probably going to cost me. Cocky.
