  • Final Week 2005

    DL Races:

    ALE (GB)

    Maine (-)
3 at PIT, 4 at HAR

    Pittsburgh (3)
    3 vs MAI, 4 @ PAW

    Pawtucket (6)
3 vs HAR, 4 vs PIT

    Division Winner:
Despite being the only team playing all 7 on the road to end the season, I think the 3 game lead and the fact they play Hartford for 4 to close it out, seals the deal. Pitt could make up some ground in their series with Maine, but then they have to go to Pawtucket for 4. I think Maine wins the Ale by 3 games. Just how they started the week.

    LAGER (GB)

    New Orleans (-)
3 at NYK, 3 at LAD

    Los Angeles (4.5)
4 vs TOR, 3 vs NO

    Division Winner:
The last week of the schedule is hardest for the Dukes, but 4.5 games is a lot to overcome in one week. I think LA makes up 2.5 games and finishes 2 GB of NO. The Morris trade will wind up being the difference in this race.

    PILSNER (GB)

    Syracuse (-)
2 vs DEN, 4 at IND

    Indy (1)
2 at DAL, 4 vs SYR

    Division Winner:
This race has been defined by the loss of 3 time Pale Ale pitcher Pat Bryant by Indy early in the season. Then the Slammers lose ace Robby Aten in the middle of the season and it balances everything out. Syracuse is 12-5 vs the Clowns this season. I think form holds, especially with Cuse getting 2 games at home vs Denver. Indy gets 2 at Dallas. Syracuse wins the division by 2 games in one of the best rivalries in the BLB.

    Wildcard Race:
Despite all their injuries, and a 3 horse race in the Ale all season, the Millers take the wildcard. They enter the week with a 3 game lead on Pawtucket and 5.5 on Indy. That's more than enough.

I have to agree with this.

Pawtuckets 3 year run appears to over in the playoffs barring some unexplained surge the final week at home.

We all had injuries to deal with, but it appears we were also dealing with some aging at the sametime. Bablio looked unstoppable before his injury and Burns picked the wrong month to get "cold".

This version was never meant to last as long as the 90's version, but was WAY to more of a fun to deal with. Got close twice, but no cigar. Make some adjustments and come back out with Pawtucket 3.0 early part of next decade.

      IL Race:

      WILDCARD (GB)

      Baltimore (-)
3 at CAL, 3 at BAT

      Washington (1)
3 at WIL, 3 vs DVS

      Winner:
The three time defending champs feast on Wilmington, while Baltimore struggles at California. That allows the Bats to pull even and stay there through the second series forcing a Lonnie Coleman game. The only one this season in either league. In the LC game, Travis DuFour returns from injury to face Erik Keifer for Baltimore. The Bats use their magic and their superior line-up to win a 3-2 game and face DVS in round 1.

              Ladd: 529 AB, 33.4 VORP, 4.0 WAR, 129 OPS+

              Big Al: 351 AB, 43.8 VORP, 4.2 WAR, 179. OPS+

One day Ladd MIGHT be worthy of sniffing Hamilton's jockstrap.

But he ain't this year and it's not even close.

I just think they win. Teams that have won in the past usually keep winning. I guessed that their line-up scores one more run than yours in the hypothetical game.

                  Hamilton home: 1.100 OPS
                  Hamilton road: .818 OPS

                  Ladd home: .724 OPS
                  Ladd road: .882 OPS

My park is tough on lefties with that enormous right field wall...while you the most lefty friendly park. If Ladd played for Baltimore, he'd easily hit 40 HRs. He hit 30 last year in 127 games. He might hit 50 if he played in your park.

                    Sorry.

The park isn't going to raise his OPS .300 points. It's the difference between a .250 hitter and a .350 hitter.

Really? Because it raises Hamilton's 300.
