  • Starting a BLB Franchise...

Right now, as of 8/15/2005, who do you take?

Pitcher: SP Tom Schuh (DAV) - 26, 5+ pitches, great control and a GB% in the 60's.

Hitter: SS Marco Lona (LAD) - 26, hits for power, average and gets on base. Rare for a SS, let alone one that fields his position (SS and 2B) so well.

I'm going with Lona, right now. There just still seems to be a gluttony of pitching in the league, although there does seem to a slight shift over the last 2-3 year or so. I think I'm going with the player that is harder to come by.

Schuh plays for me but since I know he won't read this I'll take the shortstop just because he plays almost every day and has a chance to influence more games. Be a very close decision though.

It's pretty obvious who I take, as I've fielded a multitude of offers for Lona and he's still in LA.

Assuming Shubert can stay healthy, I rather have him than Lona.

I can't remember anyone who's suffered more injuries by age 26 than Fred Schubert.

                    Yeah it's a shame.

Rare ability to play elite centerfield, steal several bases and be a power threat.

He has 40-40 talent. But the injuries will probably kill him.

                      Geoff Scott?

Not really. Scott was healthy early on. He played 140+ games most years. His career low in games played through age 26 was 125 games, which is actually Schubert's career high so far. Scary.

He was killed by you know who. Because people dared question if he was better than Chavez.
