Draft went in today, check your picks. The import happens so smoothly it's scary, like you're certain something has to be wrong.

Don't forget to start getting your A ball squads down to 25. Some of you have a LOT of work to do.

          Death Valley (53-16)
          This Week: 3-3
          0-3 vs NYK
          3-0 vs TOR

          The Good:

*The Tommy Poe Era has begun in Vegas. It won't be long until billboards touting the underdog pitcher line the I-95 corridor between Mandalay Bay and Downtown. Poe goes 7 strong innings, giving up just 1 run on 1 hit in a 6-1 route of our neighbors to the north.

*Brendan Lindsey and Alex Torres pitch in to save the week versus Toronto, throwing 16 innings and giving up just 2 runs combined to sweep the Canadiens.

*Quiet closer RJ Manning throws 4 innings and locks down 2 saves this week, giving his partner in crime Edgar Fajardo a rest.

*2.2 (26th overall) pick RF Shane Berry debuts at #37 on the Top Prospects list. Berry was acquired by moving up in a deal that sent pitching prospect Seth Shelsted and 2.7 to Carolina and represents the only pick DVS had in the first 4 rounds.

*Pat Marlin, Agustin Perales, and Ian Reynolds accounted for all 6 homeruns and 11 of 12 RBIs this week.

          The Bad:

*Getting swept by New York at home was surprising, until you notice that the pitching match-up heavily favored the Knights. Rivera-Ventura-Simpson thoroughly dominated Amaral-Wences-Porter in the series.

*New Brew candidate Zack Amaral had a rough outing getting roughed up early in a 6-1 loss to NYK.

*The Dave Porter experiment is over. He'll return to Reno and his closer role, after getting pasted yet again to inflate his ERA to over 6 this season as a starter.

*Danny Salcedo, Dave Santoyo and Tom Kroeker go just 7-for-66 this week with just 1 RBI.

*Shane Matthews cup of coffee has been served. The overmatched youngster starts 4 games and goes just 2-for-12. Matthews will continue to be a player we can use more for his DWI caliber glove at 3B in spot duty than his bat.

*TJ DiMaggio tears his labrum. Gone 4-5 months. Disappointing from a depth standpoint.

          Coming Up:
          3 at Los Alimos
          3 at Carolina

Welcome back Tex Watts. We missed you. We're hoping the veteran superstar can jumpstart our stagnating offense versus two sub .500 IL squads after two consecutive 3-3 weeks.

Travis Hoffman comes back after this sim which is huge. He's been great for us.

We're still looking for a starter. One not named Tommy Poe. Phone lines remain open.

We'd also like to deal CL Omar Maldonado, now that the signed FA are eligible to be dealt.

A 5-1 week in which we allow 7 total runs. Nice.

Dave Crudge now 5-0 with a 1.32 ERA following a 10-month rehab from a torn flexor tendon.

Wow, Jimmy Lee didn't budge and stayed at #6. My other guys also stayed on this list.

              This draft class sucked.

Oh..Pawtucket 3-3 with an AMAZING 7-16 record with one run games.

              Just waiting for Allstar break.

Great to see the player I passed on at #8 debut at #23 on the top prospects list.

....but Morris's .382 average since the trade is also nice.

McPherson jumps my system up to #3 as he debuts at #2 behind Coma.

Pretty soon Coma will be pitching alongside Tommy Poe as the most lethal 1-2 combination in baseball.

Given Poe's start and the overall performance of the team, is it time to start talking about the Death Valley bounce?

Through shrewd moves or complete luck? Never too early. The wheels will come off any moment. Our hot start was more luck than anything.

Another great defensive effort. Three TD's were plenty from the offense although we did give up 2 safeties.

Great to have Liam Ingle back finally. He came back without skipping a beat batting .385 with 2 dingers.

Also pleased with our draft. Intl C Marty Contreras debut's at a respectable #35 on the top 100. Love his upside. All in all back up to #6 in the top 100.

I think the environment is perfect for Poe to work in. I still have my doubts and I'm not gonna suddenly backtrack because of one good start. My team has won 7 of 10. Things happen.

McPherson doesn't just want to play in the BLB, my scout says he's ready. I'm gonna let him play in AAA all year. Not gonna risk having him explode and take away a chance for me to get another top talent in the draft.

The kid took three at-bats in A ball as a pinch hitter.
In his first at-bat he took a ball and then deposited a double on his first professional swing.
In his second at-bat, he went to a 3-2 count and flew out to deep center.
And in his third pinch hit at-bat he drove a 1-1 pitch into the gap for another double.

I think he's made it clear that A ball is a joke.

One good game does not a star make. He reminds me of Curt Goodwin. Remember him funclown?

Sure do. Started of a nice little run of bad trades.

Sometimes it feels like every trade you make is magical and other times.......
