Pawtucket was 10-16, they got bitched out and now........

Little under the radar signing. 2B Tom Vreeland to shore up the 4th IF spot. See how this goes.

Wow. We won two of three AT Windy City, and then went to Toronto and swept them in three games.

Best record in the DL for now.

          6-0 for the Snappers.

Expected a winning week against Wilmington and Denver, but not a clean sweep. Vleugel has been ridiculous since coming over from Baltimore. We aren't a playoff contender by any means, but it's nice to see this team competitive after losing 100 games last year.

Not ready to agree. I feel like we usually hit a big lull in the middle of the year. Hoping to break the pattern this season.

              Death Valley (29-9)
              This Week: 3-3
              3-0 vs Denver
              0-3 vs Windy City

              The Good:

*We swept Denver at our place to save the week. Washington went 3-3 to stay even with us. They get 4 vs Windy City next week.

*Colin Cash had another good week hitting .421 and belting 2 homers.

*Surprising starter Travis Hoffman improved to 5-0 with 1.88 ERA on the season, picking up a win over Denver.

*Alex Torres continues to be the starter we paid for in FA, managing to get a no decision in a 3-2 game in Chicago and another no decision in a 4-2 win vs Denver.

              The Bad:

*We're still waiting for C Augustin Perales to be the threat in the middle of the order we traded for. Batting just .182, he could begin to see a time share with roleplayer Shane Kroyer who's looked good in limited action.

*Danny Herrera had a rough week with just 2 hits.

              The Ugly:

              *Swept by Windy City.

*The offense sputtered on the road in a big match-up, generating just 2 runs in the series.

              Coming Up:
              4 at Davenport
              3 at Wilmington

Our bullpen might set some records this year.

                They've posted a cumulative 1.18 ERA.

Interestingly, we have the same bullpen we had last year. We didn't bring in any new players.

Also, we're somehow 24-14 despite our best hitter, Jerry Brown, hitting .195, and our best pitcher, Fernando Hernandez, posting a 2-4 record.

                  5-2 (27-11 overall)

                  1-2 vs. NY
                  4-0 vs. Baltimore

SP Dewitt Pierce is the glue that has bonded our pitching. The 34 year old comes in, starts cracking some jokes, show's the kids his work ethic and leadership...and bam...we're pitching lights out.

Add in 3B Roberto Crespin who is possibly living up to that 1st round pick by Maine way back in 1998 and we're pretty happy in Batavia. The 24 year old is hitting .344/.426/.531. My scout said he was an offensive powerhouse in the preseason and I thought he was smoking something the Bats left over on a roadtrip. We don't think the hitting will continue at this pace but we are excited to see he's going to be an anchor at 3B for years to come.

One thing we're disappointed with is LF Big Jon who's hitting .243/.283/.473 with only 6 HR's. Giving up a 1st and a top 15 prospect is not worth a guy with those numbers. We're stacked at OF though with some young guys still coming up so we'll give him time and maybe he'll get hot. If he can post an OBP of .300 and hit 30+ HR's we'll take it.

We got a big 3 game series against Cali this week to see exactly who we are in the Porter. Don't think we are as good as our record so hoping for a 1-2 split.

I can never get that asshole to pitch well, besides he's no Joe Roldan!

Big Jon is a streaky type. Sure he will explode in one month for like 15 bombs. As for his batting average.....think your seeing it his high water mark. .220-.250 range is where he will always be.

                    Summary: Jistic stole from you.

I tried to send this guy to 3 "supposed" veteran BLB owners and no one would give it the time of day. I hope you win it all now. Regardless, GM of the year vote.

I would have loved to trade for the kid that DV got from LA. Like I said though...if he has an OBP of .300 and hits what my scout thinks he can I'm fine. I have a young OF with 2 more prospects in the wings...one of them in AAA who could hit 20 in the BLB already. I didn't have room for everyone. Sometimes you just gotta roll the dice.

At least I won the Mont trade.

For now. Once Gomez settles into this new AAA/#5 road starter lifestyle he's be ok. We also got a second rounder and historically we've been hitting those pics.

Lona, Hau to name a few.

I wanted Reynolds from Z, but couldn't pull it off. So I went after Big Jon competing with you (which I'm sure you knew) but wouldn't budge on Jistic's price. Once Reynolds went to Los Alamos I made sure to get in touch with him. To get him and Olivares was huge this season.
