    Lol, yuk.

Thank god Indy never advances on the playoffs.

As for "getting to the playoffs" this might be a moot point if we keep hitting the way we are. As usual, new year so everything that worked last season won't work now. Frustrating. Pitching still seems ok.

    Pawtucket 2-5. Yuk yuk,yuk.

      Death Valley (12-1)
      3-0 @ Baltimore
      3-0 @ Cali

      The Good:

*Surprising road trip sweeping Cali and Baltimore puts us on a 12 game win streak.

*Rookie Zack Amaral picks up his first career win with a 3-1 win vs California.

*Ian Reynolds goes 11-for-20 with 4 homeruns and 12 RBIs to win Import POW.

*2B Colin Reed makes his Vegas debut at home this week vs Wilmington in division play. He'll start at 2B vs righties and will move around the IF sharing time at 2B, SS, and 3B.

*Robby English makes his AAA debut and records 2 wins giving up just 1 run over 13 IP in 2 starts.

      The Bad:

*Alex Torres has a second rocky start giving up 6 ER in 6 IP and getting a no decision in a 7-6 win vs California.

*TJ DiMaggio will be the odd-man-out in the Reed deal, as he'll report to AAA Reno to iron out his swing as he's batting just .182 early this season.

*Dave Porter gets shelled after just one inning in a 9-7 win at Cali. He'll get the rest of the month to show what he's got as a starter. Then he'll move to the bullpen.

      The Ugly:

*Talented SP Adrian Pulido find himself back on the DL with a torn UCL and will undergo Tommy John surgery next week.

      Coming Up:
      3 vs Wilmington
3 vs Washington - this will be a big early season test for us. After being manhandled by Washington last season, we'll hope just to not get broomed again.

4-2 again. Went 2-1 vs. California and @ Baltimore.

Early storyline to follow in D.C. in LF Willie Garcia. Yes, the same Garcia that has been on the trade block the past two seasons. He wanted started lineup last year, split time. Came into this season angry about it. Demanded starting lineup. I've given him a chance and he is running with it. Small sample size obviously, but he is on pace for 41 HRs and 122 RBI in just 432 ABs. Another bit of a surprise is the transition from 3B to SS for Antonio Cardenas. I thought his ratings would allow him to do so, but he just didn't have the experience. This Spring his SS rating bumped from "3" to "4" and so far this year he is 3rd in the IL in range, zone rating and efficiency for shortstops. He's also hitting .368.

CJ Skinner makes his debut on the Top Players List! However, the second player in that infamous trade with Philly....I think the fairy tale story of P Tom Downs is ending quickly. The BLB leader in ERA over the two year span of 2002-2003 just isn't the same player anymore after the version changed (ERA jumped +1.20) and injury (partially torn labrum). The guy who once finished second in votes for IL Pale Ale, now expects bullpen, the games suggest role is bullpen and in his Spring Training and early regular season innings, his ERA is about 7.00. Good thing I'm only paying him $9.5M! If someone thinks they can turn him around, the phone lines are open.

Next week = Stout week! 3 @ Morgantown and 3 @ reborn Death Valley. Going to be interesting to see how we do against the 12-1 Scorpions.

Bounced back to .500 with a 5-1 sim.

Pulled out a few close victories including a 15 inning marathon against New Orleans. Our bullpen held strong to allow bench player Manny Pena win it with an infield single.

Rex Knight has become the catalyst in our lineup and will hopefully have a strong year at the age of 40. He's not the player he once was but I think he will still be able to get on base quite a bit.

Sucks to lose CL Oscar Gomez for 3 months. He's been pretty much the best thing going for us pitching wise the last several seasons.

Exactly something we need for Goto. Herrera is fitting in nicely to your lineup too. That trade worked out pretty well for both of us.

                    Death Valley is for real.

As usual Davenport always plays us tough, doesn't seem to matter what year it is. JJ is starting to look a little injury prone.

The top half of the draft looks damn solid. Too bad I don't have any picks there.

It would be a shame if JJ turns into an injury prone player and fades early...

I was hoping to just tread water until Hamilton came back in June but with the way we've limped out of the gate it may just be that time.
