2005 Regular Season 1 complete - Next SIM Sun 1/26
3-3 for the Brawlers. I feel for Schuh as it gives up 4 runs in two outings while tying the club strikeout record of 12 strikeouts in the opener and still is 0-1. He's leading the league with 21 strikeouts in two games. Going to be a lot of boom or bust with all these youngsters in the line up but it should be a fun season. Almost forgot to mention that Gordinho picked up his 400th save to preserve a 1-0 shutout for Alec Bragg.
I never can remember when the draft pool actually shows up in game, but for now (if you're interested) the links to Rookie Draft Pool B. and Rookie Draft Pool P. are populated in-game and on the HTML. I know it's not the same look as the Draft Pool view that eventually (soon?) pops up in game, but it may give some a preview of who's coming out (Funclown is always interested in people coming out, right?).
Right away, the bullpen looks very strong after pitching 15.1 scoreless inningscombined. The rotation however, dropped the two games with Troy Hanback and Tom Downs getting knocked out before the 6th inning. Didn't help the four runs of support in the two losses. However, I think the lineup, if healthy, should be one of the best in the BLB. With the departure of Nari Garin (hot 2005 so far) to Maine, Washington will regularly play an OF at the 1B spot, taking advantage of the depth of hitters.
Next up the Bats are hosting the Kodiaks before a day off and taking a bus over to Baltimore. Should be a good early Porter test.
Fun with small samples: The combined K:BB ratio for Pittsburgh pitchers Jamie Thomas, Shane Carroll, TJ Mileksi, Pat Mouton and JR Goeman is 43:3 in 33.2 innings.
Any thoughts on having all the minor league levels start at the same time as the BLB? I know a lot of GMs favorite SIM of the year is #2.
Went 2-5, but luckily nobody jumped too far ahead. Saw some good and bad, mostly bad though. I think most of it is due to not enough ST reps for our bullpen which is cool as long as we don't fa TOO far behind.
We went 0-4 against lefties so I will have to makes some tweaks there.
