Pawtucket 4-3. Nice to see we are better on the road then at home??

Well we historically come out of the gate slow, after losing 2 out of 3 to Hartford we started to look like our former selves by the end of the week taking 3 of 4 at Maine. Maine was 3 outs away from being swept at home which would of been sweet. Still, some good signs:

Tyler Gerald appeared to show up finally, ripping thru Maine for 8 innings and one earned run. Realize this version is different and our "tweak" might of helped.

Power hitting returned. 10 homeruns this go around. Still a little choppy with our batting average, but it will come.

Waiting for water to finds its level on:

SP-Tom Vaccarella. Has sucked since his second start. Cold right now. Still have faith, but tightening the leash might be in order.

One runs games!!!! 2-6 so far. COME ON! Already showing a -2 PTY REC and pretty sure its cuz of this. Last season this evened out also. Again, why do we get off to slow starts with this??

Hoping to close out the month strong with three at Pitt, then come home to face the reigning Bock champions Windy City.

Overall, this was not the easiest schedule to run thru. Will end up facing 4, 2003 playoff teams and only one team who finished below .500. Was hoping to be a touch above .500 at the end of April so obviously probably going to miss our goal.

May.....looks like it gets a bit easier.

I am cautiously optimistic about this squad. I like what's happening with the pitching staff and am hopeful that there are a few rookies that will make a dent this season with the big boys.

Not jazzed about Flores being out another 7 weeks, but Sakuma seems to have gotten his form back.

Big 3 game set with WC before welcoming a DL representative to town to show them how to play the game the real way.

Awesome SIM! 4-2 including a sweep of Indy. Pitching finally came around as Fate pitched a gem against the Clowns going 7 strong and giving up 1 run.

Time to bring the meteorite to LA!

                California Kodiaks: 12-7 (4-2 sim)

                GOOD:

Starting Pitching: 2-1, 2.87 ERA for the week. Tyler Baker really stepped up giving us two quality starts on the week.

Sebastien Turcotte: Platooning in his final season with the Kodiaks, Turcotte has been on a tear to start the year - .438/.472/.729/1.201 in 48 AB's this year. If he keeps hitting the way he is, he may start seeing playing time versus LHP again.

                BAD:

Dani Trujillo: Is Trujillo finally starting to show his age? The 35 year old in what is likely his final season with the Kodiaks is off to a very slow start, hitting .200/.294/.267/.561 in his first 75 AB's this year. Combine that with the loss of his game changing speed and Trujillo is more liability than star at the current moment.

                UGLY:

Robert Menendez: The Kodiaks are 12-7, second best record in the IL, Menendez, is already 0-4 with a 13.94 ERA and has taken three blown save/losses in the first month of the year. Had he converted those into saves, he'd be three saves away from 300 for his career as well as giving the Kodiaks a much better 15-4 record. I'm not ready to make a switch yet, but if Menendez doesn't get his act together, look for AAA RP Alejandro Tellez to get a shot at closing out games in the near future.

                  3-4 in Denver. 1-6 to 2-4 to 3-4. Improvements!

Duarte took the turn to lead the way. That's why we signed three stars.

The pitching is slowly coming around. Mueller and Tamieke did well for themselves.

I seriously have no idea what's happening. We're 16-3. I always focus on the pen, so I'm pleased but not surprised that I have the best bullpen in the league so far, but the starters and offense have been above expectations.

                          PS Indy sucks.
