Salazar is decent as a starter as well.
His flexibility was a draw for sure. I like BP guys that can start in a pinch, for depth.

So it looks like the financial system is working. Looks like I'm going to feel the pinch next year.

That's what I loved about him the past two years. He was no longer my "go to" innings guy in the bullpen anymore. The AI was selecting three other guys before they would use Salazar so he was usually pretty rested whenever I needed him. He has the stuff and stamina to be a two-pitch starter. Always did, I just found more value in the earlier years to be a 100ish inning BP option than a 180 rotation player.

Next year will be even worse for me.

But I feel the financial system is working. I have my "stars" that have to be paid. That's why I have guys like Toby Day and Nari Garin on the trading block. They are in their last arbitration season and this will likely be their last season in Washington, at least for one of them. Nolan was my longest tenured Bat and his defense at shortstop can't be replaced. His bat will be better in Maine than it was in D.C. but what I will miss the most is the benefit he gave all my groundball pitchers.

I'll be leaning heavily on Cy Gray this season at SS. I think he can hold down the fort defensively. Fingers crossed.

I applaud Sully with the underrated signing of Bill Lugo. I made a two year offer that was very similar but apparently he wanted to stay in the DL. Underrated player. Slick defensively and a lefty hitter is not the easiest thing to find on the infield.

I also like the Pawtucket signing of Johnny Cosio. Solid back-end veteran starter. Forgotten about in Carolina. Definitely a player I would have targeted if I had a opening in the rotation.

Yea. Maekawa was my anchor at SS. Switch hitter, good defense with a little power. But alas, I couldn't afford him. I've got some big decisions to make as well. Lots of people want to get paid but even I don't have pockets as deep as what they're looking for.

Denver didn't help the situation by giving out TWO 20M contracts, though!!

I'm not taking about rules. I'm talking about basic human logic and decision-making.

When was the last time any player in any sport took a discount to sign with a team that loses over 70% of their games?

                  Fuck sports.

It's like turning down a six-figure job at Google to take a $35,000/year job at an organization where your boss is a dysfunctional alcoholic.

                  No one would do that.

If I had money I was going with Fujii money on Wences.

Happy to sign Resendez as my LOOGY. Really wanted Nolan as my starter at 2B this year, good get by Z.

It's a text-sim dude. Don't take it so hard. Just be happy you got Shawn Nolan to anchor your defense.

Yeah, it is going to get interesting for me very soon as well. Already had to let a handful of vets walk...which I have done before, but that is normally so I can be a player in Free-Agency. I have $1.5M to spend this off-season so it's quite a bit different. 2005 will be even worse as I am currently projected to be at $7M more in salaries than I am this season.

Nari Garin, Toby Day and JJ Black could be the next group that hits free-agency from Washington.

Or maybe Clay had something built into the system to get FA priority. There must be some reason because who wouldn't want to play for Z and the Guides?

I'm pissed off because I shouldn't have to lead with a blind $100M offer just to get a decent free agent.

I work really hard to build my organization's market and budget, and I feel like I can't take advantage of it because free agents pick teams out of a fucking hat without even letting me submit a counter-offer.
