Yeah I was in a league that did one week per sim during this period. Obviously you were allowed to counter more. The thing with this is he basically accepted the lesser deal anyway so not sure "countering" was gonna help.

I like that players don't always accept the higher bid. Way to simple then. From what I see(in my head), he didn't want to play in Pawtucket cuz he heard rumors about Tyler Quinn bullying the pitchers in the locker room and didn't want to play for Maine cuz......well who wants to play for a .500ish team?

In a real free agency, Wences, to whom I offered $11M/year over the four years he asked for, would have said, "Hey dude, you offered way more money than everyone else. You clearly want to have me. Can you add an extra year or two?"

Jesus Christ, I offered him a 2004 salary almost three times what he signed for!

Instead, he just signs with another team.

      It's bullshit.
There are also factors besides money.

In real free-agency, maybe an international guy doesn't want to go to the most storied franchise in the BLB? Maybe he doesn't want the pressure to perform for a contender? Maybe he wants to be the ace of the staff? Maybe he wants to play in the IL so he can prove himself as a hitter? There are other factors besides money and he came into FA looking for a cheap salary and got a lot more than he asked for. He's happy.

Pretty pleased with our Edgar Salazar signing. Low cost, reliable (hopefully) bullpen piece.

We are extremely happy to sign Deleon and 3B Zack Chandler. Last year we were under .400 against left handed pitchers. Hopefully these two change that.

Maybe because it's Denver, but I actually only offered both men $1 MM more per year and I even cut the length of the deals from 7 to 5 years.

Damn, I bet everyone else was getting $10 MM dollar demands. It takes money to want to play in Rocky Top.

The good thing is our park is now built for lefty hitters. Which is why I targeted them to begin with. Just good timing. Expensive timing. But good.

I finally signed a scout after getting beaten on my last 3 offers. He has great ratings but zero experience and "Highly Favor Tools". I would prefer a more neutral scout but we'll see how it goes.

Starting next season, I'd be more than happy to run FA SIMs on back-to-back days, shortening them to 7-8 days a piece. I'd have no issue with that at all.

He really hasn't been the same guy since tearing his labrum.

                        OSA Ratings
                        2000: 8-6-7

                        2004: 7-6-5

The 2003 rating I think is based on the fact that he was listed as a SP to start the season. Good signing but he's not the old Salazar.

When was the last time a quality MLB free agent took a discount to sign with a 114-loss team?

                            Go ahead, I'll wait.

No, don't take that the wrong way. I absolutely love the signing.

Shawn Nolan, Don Bolton, Don Castor and Edgar Salazar are all really good "gets." I just unfortunately could not afford them.

Salazar is decent as a starter as well.
