The one positive of sucking so bad and being totally gutted (besides the #1 pick) is the financial flexibility that we have for scouting, development and Free Agency.

My scout has him as 5-4-5 with a 5-4-6 potential.

          Close enough for me.

Mine has him 5-4-3/5-4-5. If you are planning on contending, I bet you send him back.

Probably. Especially since I only have 1M total put in scouting. But hey, that's what ST is for. I've seen a quite a few Rule V's do well after only time in A and maybe limited AA.

How do you figure? His performance in '02 was so great it warranted an immediate promotion? He spent two years in the BP and only had 1 as a starter. And no, he was not in A. He was on my AA roster this year. He just hadn't pitched there yet.

                        OSA Ratings in January
                        1999: 3/4/2
                        2000: 4/4/2
                        2001: 4/4/2
                        2002: 5/4/2
                        2003: 5/4/3
                        2004: 5/4/4

Based solely on ratings, I think at the start of 2003, at 5/4/3, he was ready for Double-A.

                        Stat break down
                        1999: Only two games.
2000: Great year out of the pen. A 1.7 WAR in just 34 games.
2001: Average year. Looks like he may have preferred to be a starter or was bored in the pen.
2002: You can see his improvement in "stuff." His 3.3 WAR in 20 starts is impressive.
2003: Improvements across the board. If you look at the by month break down, he fades as the season goes on, likely because he expected to be pitching in Double-A and was upset about it.

Just based on stats, I think he was ready for Double-A by mid-2002.

                        OSA Potential
                        1999: 4/4/5
                        2000: 5/4/4
                        2001: 4/4/5
                        2002: 5/4/5
                        2003: 5/4/6
                        2004: 5/4/7

This is a sign to me that confirms the production. For consecutive seasons, OSA sees a potential increase.

Obviously he was on the rise. But he was only 20 when I started noticing him. My scout had him as a 2 for control so I left him in A last year. Yeah he got a bump but still, what was the harm in letting him finish out the year in A? None. Statistically my pitchers in A ball do really well because it's a big park. AA is tougher so I hold them there as long as I can to get the most out of them before getting rocked in my smaller AA park.

I love the rating history but it honestly doesn't change the fact that the kid is not ready for the bigs. Even if he gets another bump in control to a 4, is a 5-4-4 kid going to help out any club? Doubtful. Even in your crazy stadium.

I never said he was ready for the bigs.

The kid is 5-4-5 with 5-4-6 potential according to my scout. Not sure what other info I'm supposed to use. Certainly not the fact that he hasn't gone through every minor league level? I've had enough success through Rule 5 to know that's not true.
