  • Interesting Games Thread

Thought that it might be nice to list some interesting games you had and what made them stand out from the rest. Since we'll be moving at a good pace, some things can easily get overlooked. Here's an example.

I had a crazy game at Virginia. The first thing that was crazy was that we 27 LEFT ON BASE! Wow. That's brutal. Worse than the Cubs.

    Here's the box: http://ootp.oldredboat.com/reports/b...me_box_73.html

But what made the game crazier was the ending. We go up 4-3 in the top of the ninth. Then the bottom of the ninth "Old Blue" Simmons comes in and promplty K's the first two batters he faces. He gets Virginia's Tomeli down to his last strike, 1-2 but Tomeli launches a solo shot sending the game to extra innings.

Then top half of the tenth the wheels fall off for the Colonials.
    The sequence...

Suzuki leads off with a double
    Humphry K's
Balk called on Hollie while facing Serma. Suzuki moves to third, Serma is intentionally walked to setup the double play.
Franklin comes in takes a few pitches, but up 2-1 Hollie uncorkes a wild pitch, Suzuki trots home for the winning run.

Just a crazy turn of events in two innings.

You may want to look at the Team LOB which is only 14 (still a ton). The LOB for the individual hitter doesn't mean that much. If a guy get a single with no outs, and the next 3 guys get out, each one of them will have him counted as a LOB.

I was down 4-2 in the top of the 9th when my teams scored 5 runs to take a 7-4 lead. Harford scored 2 in the bottom of the 9th and with runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs, got Stafford to fly out to end the game.

How about a frustrating games thread?

          http://ootp.oldredboat.com/reports/g...s/log_211.html

My offense managed to score only 1 run on 10 hits. My starter went 8 IP, 4 Hits, 8 K's and allowed 1 unearned run. My closer comes into the bottom of the 9th in a tie game and allows a walkoff HR on 1 pitch.

          Pitching: RHP J. Cleary
Pinch Hitting: RHB D. O'Brien 0-0: SOLO HOME RUN (Flyball, 9D), Distance : 387 ft
Game Over ... Denver defeats Maine, 2 to 1

          Ugh

Ouch! That and the run in the 6th was via error. That's a tough one.

              How's this for a frustrating game... http://ootp.oldredboat.com/reports/b...e_box_275.html

My ace closer blows the save by allowing 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th, both on wild pitches. We have a golden opportunity to take the lead in the 11th by getting 1st and 3rd with no outs, only to bunt?!??! and sacrifice the man on 1st to 2nd. The next two batters get out, one of whom is my backup SS who was in because my starter, who also happens to be one of my best hitters, left the game with a blister.

My pythagorean record is now 17-13, yet I'm 12-18 and 7 games out of first. I hate this game.

My 14 inning marathon with Denver was definitely interesting. An error in the 14th cost them:

                http://ootp.oldredboat.com/reports/g...s/log_252.html

Batting: RHB J. Foshee 0-0: Ball
                1-0: Ground out 4-3 (Groundball, 4M)
Batting: RHB J. Villarroal 0-0: Called Strike
                0-1: Ball
                1-1: Called Strike
                1-2: Reached on error, E3 (Groundball, 3)
Batting: LHB J. Melnick 0-0: Ball
                1-0: Swinging Strike
                1-1: Fly out, F7 (Line Drive, 7D)
Batting: LHB J. Brown 0-0: TRIPLE (Flyball, 8LD)
                J. Villarroal scores

Reviving this thread. Not nearly enough posts.

                        http://ootp.oldredboat.com/news/html..._box_1055.html

Got Sin City to ground into SIX (that's right 6) double plays. Although my starter allowed 6 hits and 2 walks, he faced only 2 batters over the minimum.

                        And this one

                        http://ootp.oldredboat.com/news/html.../log_1065.html

Tied 3-3. Top 9th, Sin City scores a run. Bottom 9, I get a man on 2nd with 1 out and the idiot gets caught stealing 3rd. Sure enough, the batter walks, then the pitcher uncorks a wild pitch. In what should've been 2nd and 3rd with 1 out, I end up losing the game.

I don't know how I didn't notice this earlier, but a few sims ago my team pulled off a triple play. It's the only one in the league this season. Happened 9/14 against Virginia.

Bottom of the 2nd, no one out, runners on 1st and 2nd.

                            Batting: RHB G. Campa
                            0-0: Ball
                            1-0: Ball
                            2-0: Swinging Strike
                            2-1: Ball
                            3-1: Called Strike
3-2: Lines into TRIPLE play, 7-4-3 (Line Drive, 78S
