Pawtucket 4-3. Concluded our road trip going 6-4 overall.

I CANNOT stand playing in New York. Its a horrible stadium and bad for the game of baseball. Two losses 1-0????? All games decided by one run?? Again, just terrible for the game. If I was a teenager in 2003 I would of stopped watching baseball.

Back at home now and do like the direction the team is heading. Team "Tug Boat", it is what it is.

      Again...YUK:

It just doesn't matter who I put as closer, they will blow games. My old closer, now a setup guy has a .48 ERA since I moved him out of the slot.

        I'm gonna leave it empty.

A 3-4 week for the Brawlers but 2 of those wins go to Hildago and one of those was a no hitter so something to crow about in Davenport for a little while anyway.

On the lighter side of sports:

How about that RP Curt Kelley???

33 year Rule 5 phenom has been hot now for 14 games going 2-0 with a .95 era in that stretch. .61 era for the month of June!! To think he was one week away from being sent back to Washington in April.

I will say Pawtucket has had some real nice Rule 5 guys over the years.(Jon Flores, Zachery Mitchell) Wish we can apply this knowledge into drafting young bullpen guys.

3-3 Wow. No hit by Davenport. Then we follow suit with a 2 hit shutout by Keifer. 2 games later McCarty and Murdock hold Los Alamos to 1 hit. Some serious pitching performances this sim.

6-1 to get back to our winning ways.

                      Oh, good series, Jake.

New Orleans is hot. We have had a couple of good sims in a row, still pretty unlucky overall with lots of one run losses. I like what I'm seeing on the farm as well.

3-3. Swept Batavia then turned around and got swept by Philly. Not cool, Brad.

Because of injuries, I had been using a couple of relievers as starters and although it was working well enough for now, I know it's not a long term solution. Lost a couple of talented young guys for Torres, but they aren't anywhere on Batavia's level of young guns so I'm thinking its now or never. We also picked up "Blade," who was wallowing in self-pity in Carolina's minors, but looks like he may still have something if given the chance. We'll see.

I have no idea what this 2nd half is going to look like, but I "feel" like its a better position than where we started.

Our better bats have been heating up a bit, Gomez, Barrios, and Hamilton hitting .374, .337, and .333 respectively. Young C/1B, Diego Flores also looks to have supplanted Mr. Kelch as an everyday starter vs. RHP. He has begun to show signs of being a very good switch hitter and makes us dangerous from 1-6 right now. Also, Jacopino (SP) has come from Pitt and been impressive as I expected, 3-1 with a 2.50 ERA in June.

I am hoping we can catch Cali by the break, heal up a bit and come back and make a run with our new additions in the 2nd half of the season.

Still looking to improve the ol' offense if anyone is looking to move an OF. Or middle IF.

Not a lot of financial flexibility, but I'll move picks/prospects if you take some money back.
