WtF? Where'd that 3rd pitch come from?

My Scout had him #1 overall. I went against him. Wasn't confident enough to pull the trigger. If he slipped to the 2nd round it was a no brainer.

Still we ended up with the 2nd highest prospect in the draft so we're pretty happy in what we felt was a pretty underwhelming draft class.

There's a lot of moving parts. Matt must have changed it back. It's hard to keep track of.

3-3 sim. Our first non losing sim against the IL!!!! Lona is an uncontrollable beast right now. I don't want to jinx the kid, but he's been stellar all year (with the bat), especially this month (.409/.452/.697/1.149). Oscar Vasquez looked pretty good in his first week with the Dino's. He went 8 innings with 8K's and 0 BB's. Dewitt Pierce and Alex Torres... not so much. The hitting and pitching was overall mediocre, and the defense definitely lost us a game, but I can live with a .500 week.

Our 1st overall draft pick, Hector Gutierrez, debuted at #50, so that's a positive sign. I hate drafting 100% against OSA, but my scout had him rated as the #3 player in the draft and I really liked his wordage.

I see no matter how hard you tried, you couldn't stop Denver from going 4-2.

                        Damnit! I want that pick.

I started Robby Williams in place of the injured Jamie Benge and he just struck out 11. No big deal.

Speaking of big strikeout numbers: Vinny Ledbetter - who is currently in AAA - finished his Double A stint with 4 consecutive 10+ K games. He's progressing faster than Ron Malone. However, Malone did just throw two 10+ K games in his AA debut, so there's that to contend with.

I also want to thank Z. He told me he thinks Gentner could start when I traded for him and despite my hesitations on that, I stayed the course. He suffered a serious injury that derailed him a bit, but he's back and he's pitching great.

                                Pawtucket 4-2 (Now looks official)

Can't complain considering Philly swept us last season on the road. Also, got some of our lead back. When your team doesn't really streak its hard to make big moves.

                                Notes:

Tom Vaccarella in four starts looks very sharp. He's walking alot of people, but this is normal after dealing with a major injury. Samething happened to Ocampo.

Expecting Tyler Quinn to crack the top players list at somepoint. Only 26 so no hurry for it, but really taking a big step this season.

Derrek Tucker still knows how to pitch!!!! Lets see if he can string some together now.

4-9 in one loss games. This is very odd. The only team in first place (or wildcard leader) to have a losing record in this category. Somehow I do think this will even out. To many solid bullpen guys for this to continue. This is a glass half empty/ half full thing. I'll go with half full. Think its positive that despite this issue we lead the Ale by 5 games.
