We went 1-6 and somehow avoided a sweep against Pawtucket.

Ouch 1-5 geez. Villifane seems ready to me anyone want to shoot me a PM either way. Carr and Lemus I am going to wait longer on. Excited about some of the young guns. Also that 1.3 if I don't fuck it up.

We're waiting for our offense to pick up. We have a handful of .700-.750 OPS guys putting up .275 OPSes right now.

Pawtucket 4-3. Not bad for a 7 game road trip. Hitting seems in order though it appears a bit uneven at the moment. Speaking of uneven that goes for our pitching as well.

About where I expected us to be for our first Ale run at home. Lets see what these guys got.

                  4-2 sim.

This is the sim that had me worried. Last year we played well in the first week but bombed in the second and never came back.

                  The Good

Johnston - pitches a complete game shutout. His performance wasn't completely dominant but the defense was solid behind him.

Johnny Knight - finally displays a little of the hitting ability we thought he had. His numbers were gaudy .429/.455/.905/1.359 with 3 doubles, 2 triples, 1 HR and 8 RBIs.

Basil Petrohilos - yes the "Greek God" is looking good this season. He came in and picked up a couple of saves for a tired Ivan Gallo.

                  The Bad

Alex Torres - is suffering from separation anxiety with Tucker gone. I'm not sure why he's having a bad time at the top of the rotation as that has always been his spot. Hopefully this doesn't become a trend.

Rod Phillips - brought in specifically to pitch in games where Gallo couldn't, blows a save. Can't win them all I guess.

                  Other news

The Dinos are happy to report the signing of veteran Von Hayes. Hopefully he becomes a thorn in the side of a soaring New Orleans team.

2-5 last week, 6-0 this week. The difference? Pepe Rodriguez + Ron Barber, 10 errors last week, "only" 3 this week.

                        3-3, was hoping for better.

Travis Neal continues to be erratic. Usually either dominates for gets shelled. Did the same last year. The good news is Edgar Mejia is pitching lights out and has debuted on the top players list.

JJ Caplan may be emerging although it's too early to tell he's smashing the ball now. He is a major factor in how we'll end up doing. Joe Rojas is too busy drawing walks to actually hit the ball...yet he moved up the top players list.

Love the early play of SS Bobby Corral. So far he's looking worth the price we paid in the off season.

On the farm we have good news everywhere. Fernando Ortiz, Travis Krumman, and the finally healthy Jamie Frantz all had big weeks. Frantz actually drew 11 walks in his first week back.

Someone to keep an eye on is Marco Volquez in AA. We liked his makeup enough to make a midround pick of him last year. His ratings have skyrocketed and he started off the season on a high note. He has that same creeper vibe that Fernando Ortiz had on him. Love those mid round INTL guys.

Very though week coming up with a red hot Baltimore team and California team visiting the mansion. Gotta keep pace with the clubhouse leading Tobs.

Good week overall for the Freedom, at 5-1, which was vital considering our 2-5 week to open the campaign.

No injuries of significance (not counting the carnage inflicted on Doug Miles's ERA).

We still have some significant offensive components that are apparently waiting to be notified of the season's beginning (Watts, Alvarez and Jenkin are all sub-70 OPS+ at the moment).
