Nope, never seen anything like that. I'm assuming it's based on some calculation related to the first contract he ever signed (as well as Pat's bloated, sham team options).

Just recently with Lucca. After going back and forth in the 15-17 mill range I got a "3 years, 33mill per season". Naturally I laughed.

But Lucca first proposal was staggered so strange. 7 years first season at 13 and by year 7 all the way up 25ml!!!!

I'm so glad the whole hell is over with.

The saving grace is he wants the final year to be a player option!

It's funny that he is going to make less from arbitration than he would have in the original contract. Stupid fake players...

No way. Just waiting for the next sim for it to be official. Lucca has learned WE DONT DO PLAYER OPTIONS IN PAWTUCKET!!!! Declined "Coffin" since he sucked, plus poor SP Guiterez needed to take a pay cut.(Team option refused) The "hell" part was waiting for the new season to kick in.

It all worked out.

I offered a player a 700K, 900K, 1.2M, 2.1M, 4.5M (PO)... and the game said it wasn't properly structured. I can't imagine a deal with 35 million dollar difference between the first and last year would count as properly structured but my deal wasn't.

Hell of a year. I've expected to compete for the Brewmaster's the past three seasons. In 2000, we won the IL but got beat by New Orleans. In 2001, we lost in the to eventual champion Baltimore in the ILDS. This year, with a little help from the Clay scandal, and a surprise Syracuse run, we won our third Brewmaster's.

Heading into the off-season, our Hitting Coach retired. Lonnie Sparks had been with the club awhile and will be missed. The contract of draft guru and minor league expert Jose Familia was not re-newed.

Quite a few arbitration and team-option decisions. The biggest, likely former closer and future Hall of Famer pitcher Clarence "Doodle" Ortiz. He's a Type A FA, but I think we will return for another run.

Thanks again everyone for another great season in the BLB. 2003 should be the best yet.

It didn't let me offer it. I asked him to extend and that was his initial offer to me.

The properly structured thing always confuses me.

In another league I gave a guy $4 MM, $8MM, $20MM

And no kickback from the salary gurus. But why that worked and something else doesn't is confusing.

I wish the manual explained more things.
