Final week was thinking about resting some players, but we may have to play this straight up. Least the first three games. Seems some playoff implications are at stake.

My first weekly writeup this season I believe.

        3-4 week; 77-79 overall

        Upcoming Week
        3 @ Cali
        3 vs. Philly

        The Good

        - W. Gomez got his 1st ever BLB start after being hurt 7 games into the AAA season. In those 7 games he was 3-1 with a 1.77 ERA, 48 Ks and 2 BB. In his BLB debut he went 8.1 IP, 3 ER, 4 K, 3 BB and took a loss. Hopefully he comes back strong after his 4 month injury and has a productive off season.

        - Rookie SP Broderick Farquharson took a loss but in 4 starts now has a 1-1 record with a 1.11 ERA, 18 K's, and only 5 BB's.

        - 21 year old Danny Gonzalez took home the 2002 WORT AA Outstanding Pitcher Award after finishing the year by going 14-3 with a 1.68 ERA and 1.04 WHIP.

        - C Bill Hardwick hit .316 and 1 HR this week. He had a horrible August hitting .213 but is currently .248/.354/.394 with 14 HR's.

        - OF Travis Wyatt blew up after coming to Batavia from Pawtuckett by finishing the year in AAA hitting .341/.404/.518 with 9 HR's and 37 RBI's. Maybe Batavia will find some power in the OF in the future.

        - 1B Shannon Roberts...my scout always like him...gave him a chance in ST and he blew up. He's now hitting .308/.360/.484 with 27 HR's. Sad thing is I have 1B Dave Willis stuck in AAA now who my scout thinks is a .300/.400 hitter. Anyone wanna trade?

        The Bad

        - Watching 2B Jaime Hoffman plummet down the Top Prospects list this year has been great. Hoffman was acquired in a trade from Virginia, was touted him as a huge prospect and a great trade piece, and now sucks.

        - The who wants to play IF next season is not going well for call-ups Stephen King or Brendon Rudolph. Todd Bingham in AAA might be called up because even though his average will be low he has nice power and can play 2B at the highest level.

Even though Danny Melgoza isn't considered my top pitching prospect, I think he's the best arm I have - even considering Ron Malone who I drafted fifth this year.

Melgoza just won the 2002 AA MASH Pitcher of the Year Award. He was phenomenal in my opinion.

Posted a 0.99 WHIP in 21 starts. Struck out 155 batters over 144 innings while walking only 28.

He will definitely be in AAA next year along with my top pitching prospect Yoshitaka Tameike and top ten prospect Dave Carter.

Possibly see them in the BLB by 2004. Hoping Benge is as good in the pros as he's been in AAA to be part of that young staff and then Ron Malone in 2005 and Oscar Gaxiola in 2006.

I expect someone will crumble so I should be okay because I still think Tommy Potter is gonna be my future ace, and I still believe in Zach Mueller because he's too talented outside of the control issues.

It's cool. You've been doing such a great job with your minors and stuff, we figured something major must have come up because you're usually really attentive.

good effort, but even I know that the minors don't have any games scheduled.

I wonder if I would have won a game or two more this year by kicking this guy to the curb and just eating the popularity loss. That's a heck of an average he's putting up...
