Artie Clemons is hot right now and has his average up to .300. When he hits, this team is in good shape. Still have no idea how September will go for us but the roster expansion will get NY a few new arms. Time for the stretch run!

Both my AA and A ball teams are deep in the playoffs, which is also an encouraging sign for the future.

          Washington Bats - 89-41 - 1 GB

          2-1 vs. Maine
          2-1 @ Pittsburgh
          • Played two of the best the DL has to offer and won both series. This marks this first time I have ever matched up against the mwetts run Millers and we came out on top. That's right you fuckin' mook.

          The Good
          • Rookie OF Pat Ladd took home another IL Player of the Week and IL Rookie of the Month on consecutive days. The 23-year-old has quickly jumped up the ranks and is now rated as the #4 right fielder in the BLB. The D.C. native is going to give Windy City a run for it's money in the Refreshing New Brew voting.

          • Neither players sample size is much to gloat about but with the injury to 3B Tyler McLouth and the unexpected falloff from 2B Jeremiah Kelly, I am very pleased with the play of two scrap heap Free-Agent veteran signings. 3B Joe Dominguez and 2B Robby Bowen have been tearing the cover off the ball with a .999 and .954 OPS, respectively. I'm sure as the season continues those will drop to a much more pedestrian level but they have both already exceeded my expectations when I took flyers on them as mid-season signings.

          The Bad
          • Is SP Travis DuFour running out of gas? After setting a career high in innings last year with 211 regular season and 15 post season, DuFour appears to have hit a wall. He is now 0-3 with a 6.19 ERA this past month.

          The Ugly
          • Virginia in first place.

          The Farm
          • The three levels of minors are all done for the year. No minor league championships this year. I know...I'm as surprised as you are.

          The Week Ahead
          • Three @ Morgantown and three @ Virginia. Oh boy. With the rosters expanding, the Bats are yet even deeper. I've loaded the 40 man roster and am adding new players across the board. I'd like to give starters some more rest down the stretch but I also really want home field and a third consecutive Stout crown. Morgantown won't be a cake walk with my team going back to the six man rotation but I'll predict 2-1. As for Virginia...they swept the Bats last time...I think I'll get one, 1-2.

Ok whose season should we ruin, Philly or Cali?

It's going to be ours. Not a chance it's going to be Philly.

Once Simmons is back Pawtucket will have 30 players the rest of the way.

6 man rotation, but overall basically the same lineup. We did the "resting" idea back in 92 and were bounced in the first round. We seemed very rusty and key injuries occured anyway. Changed the frequency for players to sub a bit more, but thats about it. If they get hurt, they get hurt.

Starting to get some sizable extension money for next season. Its a bonus since a few players won't be seeing they're team options picked up next season and "assuming" the team budget will increase.

Good luck to the Ale contenders the rest of the way:

DL Wildcard: Pittsburgh/ Maine/ Syracuse- HUGE series coming up with the Ale teams. Neither can really afford a split here. Reyes creaming the ball right now, but Schurbert has been a nice call up for Pitt. My guess is the rookie ends up hitting a wall like most do and just to many lefties in Pitts rotation to mount a serious charge. The odds for either to make the playoffs overall are slim, but Syracuse needs to play alot better down the stretch and really take advantage of Denver. With Hartford packing in for the season Maine or Pitt could quickly gain some ground.

Advantage Syracuse by 2 games over Maine

Lager Division- New Orleans would need a 92 Pitt dive in order for New York and LA to get back in this, but obviously can be done. Back to back 4 game sets coming against both so this could end rather quickly. Again, splits don't help for either of the followers so the time is now. LA had a horrible May and April. Year 6 of a run, typical for most teams.(Yes the game has cycles)

Advantage New Orleans by 4 games over LA

Too lazy to talk about the IL:

Porter gets decided in a one game playoff. Philly wins

The Cal v Philly thing is interesting. Philly is far more balanced... but the Wildfire hit so damn well if they get any pitching at all they're dangerous as hell.

Thank goodness Maine and Pittsburgh have been just as bad the last two sims. We're 3-9 over our last 12 and I think we've only lost 2 games.

Our pitching is falling apart. Our bats won't truly wake up. We're not going anywhere either way.
