  • Half a team have a bad season?

Has anyone ever had either their offense, or pitching, have just a miserable season. Example...last year, my offense was great, but pitching was awful (other than a few guys). This year it's the opposite--pitching is great, but offense is miserable. These are the SAME players on my team, so it makes no sense.

    Some examples:

    Dimmick
    2001 - 3.40 ERA
    2002 - 2.34 ERA

    Vazquez
    2001 - 3.35 ERA
    2002 - 2.80 ERA

    Romero
    2001 - 4.00 ERA
    2002 - 1.83 ERA

    Yoshino
    2001 - 5.11 ERA
    2002 - 3.49 ERA

    Herrera
    2001 - .309/.362/.424
    2002 - .248/.307/.300

    Babilo
    2001 - .275/.349/.476
    2002 - .207/.278/.369

    Gould
    2001 - .265/.332/.398
    2002 - .193/.266/.294

    Sakamoto
    2001 - .263/.347/.443
    2002 - .211/.285/.410

    Brown
    2001 - .264/.359/.354
    2002 - .241/.380/.286

    Total coincidence, or programming bug?

I realize we're only at the AS break, but I noticed this with the pitching last year early on and it continued throughout the season. I'm expecting the same out of my offense this year.

I think we've seen it. I think there are other teams in the league going through it now. Any changes in coaches or management strategy?

Interesting...didn't even think of that. We have a new hitting coach & bench coach this year, but nothing changed with other personnel in the last couple years. Could that be the reason for the dropoff in hitting ? I know coaches are there for a reason, but never expected that could have that dramatic of an effect.

While that might explain the absence of offense this year, it doesn't explain the drop in pitching last year and bump this year...I've had the same pitching coach for 3 years.

I agree with Pat. I've run multiple seasons in OOTP of the same year and stats can dramatically alter.

So, in other universes, Denver - and not Virginia - has won multiple championships and has their email account sent to spam when asking to make trades with potential partners?

My offense sucks every year. Although in June we posted our best team batting average in about 6 years.

This game is like golf. Easy to play, impossible to master.

                  That is why we play.

Why would I disagree??? Players bounce back all the time. The question is always , will it be to late?

Because you just posted a rant about league hitting going down and Jim's offense is down.

How come we never had a golden friendship? I feel cheated.
