  • Game Log issues

Not sure if this is widely known in the OOTP community but I have noticed some errors in the game logs.

Like pitchers showing up in box scores that don't appear in gamelogs, and I had a picher pulled for a pinch hitter in the 2nd inning (questionable move by the manager as he had given up 0 earned runs and shut shut down the 2nd inning 1-2-3)but yet the game log says he pitched the 3rd inning. But in the boxscore they got him pitching only 2.

Just take the logs with a grain of salt. Also watch the early hook from managers.

Interesting. I've seen a lot of bugs posted regarding game logs so it doesn't surprise me.

I recommend editing all your strategy settings. It takes some time but should be worth it. If you don't have time to edit each setting, set pinch hit for pitchers to 'Never' for the early innings and that should fix the quick hook.

My bad on the log. Just saw where they snuck in the right player name.

However, the "strategy" issue still applies. Little bit funky, but it's no biggis.

          Here's McOwl's 1st inning:

          Code:
          Pitching: RHP N. MacOwl
Batting: RHB S. Sinay 0-0: Ball
          1-0: Called Strike
          1-1: SINGLE (Line Drive, 7S)
Batting: RHB J. Coera 0-0: Foul Ball
          0-1: Reached on error, E5 (Groundball, 5S)
          S. Sinay to second
          S. Sinay to third
          J. Coera to second
Batting: LHB J. Brabant 0-0: Ball
          1-0: Foul Ball
          1-1: Foul Ball
          1-2: Foul Ball
          1-2: Reached on error, E3 (Groundball, 3S)
          S. Sinay scores
          J. Coera to third
Batting: RHB R. Hoover 0-0: Ball
          1-0: Foul Ball
          1-1: Grounds into double-play, 6-4-3 (Groundball, 6)
          J. Coera scores
Batting: RHB J. Delira 0-0: Ball
          1-0: Ball
          2-0: Reached on Error, E2 (Popup, 2LF)
Batting: LHB D. Toler 0-0: Ball
          1-0: 2-RUN HOME RUN (Flyball, 8LXD), Distance : 450 ft
Batting: LHB R. Poce 0-0: Swinging Strike
          0-1: Foul Ball
          0-2: Ball
          1-2: Strikes out swinging
As you can see his fielders let him down. He did give up the HR but they gave the opposition extra outs.

Now he settles back down nicely in the second...

          Code:
Batting: RHB T. Lovins 0-0: Called Strike
          0-1: Ball
          1-1: Ball
          2-1: Foul Ball
          2-2: Strikes out swinging
Batting: LHB R. Shichirobei 0-0: Swinging Strike
          0-1: Ground out 1-3 (Groundball, 15S)
Batting: RHB S. Sinay 0-0: Called Strike
          0-1: Ball
          1-1: Ball
          2-1: Swinging Strike
          2-2: Fly out, F5 (Line Drive, 56)
1-2-3 Only 34 pitches so far....then they yank him for a PH in the next inning. We had men on 1st and 2nd with two out. Kinda odd.

Also one more thing. McOwl did give up a HR after all the errors. Wouldn't that one run from the HR count as an earned run? Or am I missing something.

Out of curiosity, what's your strategy slider set to for pinch hit for pitchers in innings 1-3, down by 4+?

Regarding the scoring of it. They basically re-evaluate the inning as if the errors had never happened. So the inning without errors would have been single, ground out, ground out, ground out. Any runners that reached on an error or score after what would have been the 3rd out are considered unearned. It's really a stupid system.

EDIT - btw that HR was 450 ft... ouch

Strategy sliders are all at default. I did chance some guys for a slower hook now.

When you say "they" is it the game, or in real baseball they do the same thing. ie. The HR never would've happened due to all the errors?

That's how it's scored in MLB as well.

Be careful changing the individual player strategy sliders for a slower hook. That's how I ended up with 3 CG in my first 4 games. I set them back to default, but don't allow pinch hitting for pitchers in the first 3 innings.

Although, I only play 12 non DH games per year (not counting my upcoming Championship run) so it might be more important to you guys in the Import League.
