I like to imagine the BLB exists in a universe that also has MLB. therefore, a few great pitchers make major bucks, while the dropoff in the rank and file is significant. Stars and Scrubs.

I actually just view it as our world where normal real world logic doesn't apply. Its cool, just need to adapt basically.
Speaking of, can we select owner each season who gets to make a INTL player's name up for the upcoming draft? Be nice to add players like "Doctor Understand" or "Gummy Bear"

Baltimore Bulldogs (67-38,Porter Leader) 7-0 for the week
3-0 at BAT
4-0 vs PHI
What a week! I did expect us to play relatively well, maybe 5-2, but definitely not an undefeated week. This week was another lights out week for our starters as we were able to rack up 3 shutouts in 7 games. Also for the first time this year, according to the BLB utility, our % chance to win the Porter has gone above 50%. Very nice to see.
The Good
2B Colin Reed has really come into his own in 2001. The kid has been impressive since his rookie year, but this year has been special. Last week the kid was able to hit .400 for the week, pushing his batting average to a cool .310, the best of his young career. What's even more surprising is Baltimore's rise to the #1 second baseman ranking (Positional Strength Overview), a lot of which can be attributed to Reed's improvement this year.
SP Sadaharu Katsura continues to have an impressive 2nd half of the year. Katsura has now started in 5 games with a 2-1 record, recording 27 K and just 5 BB. I'm not sure how Katsura lost his focus, but he is finally looking like the the 23-year old youngster that made the 2000 All-Star Game.
I have made a lot of the fact that our pitching has really started to come alive in the 2nd half of the season, and this week's performance was no exception. This week, our starters were able to pitch 53 of a possible 63 innings, allowing just 10 runs in that span. Our 1.71 ERA was the best in the BLB for this past week. Particularly impressive was SP Derek Vleugel, who was able to pitch 15.3 innings with 14K, just 2 BB and 2 wins. Very nice.
The Bad
Our batters were actually pretty cold overall. We only hit .237 this week. Luckily, our starters were hot this week.
The Ugly
I refuse to even look for anything ugly in a 7-0 week.
The Farm
Our most recent 3rd round selection, SP I-po Wu had a tremendous week. 2-0, .69 ERA with 9 K and just 3 BB. Wu has also pitched very well since coming from Taiwan to play professional baseball going 4-3 in 9 starts with a 2.47 ERA and 1.08 WHIP.
3B Edgar Castillo (A), one of our supplemental picks of 2001, also had a great week, even earning his first professional Player of the Week Award. Castillo has really taken to the professional game, continuing to hit in Single A baseball as if he never left LSU. I like the way he's come out of the gate.
The Week Ahead
We continue to defend our home field with 3 vs. Morgantown, followed by 3 vs Davenport. I'll say 4-2 just to be safe.
Despite having a pretty good bullpen we've lost a lot of one-run games this season. Of course if we could hit over .222 we'd have fewer one-run games.
I guess this is as good a time as any... I've informed Clay that I will be stepping down as the Los Lunas GM after this season. I'm going to be on the road more than I had hoped I would be, and I need to concentrate on losing 30 lbs and getting my health back. I'll be keeping an eye on the BLB and my beloved Furry Pigs. But I sure am going to miss you guys.
