Another 2-4 week. Fan interest keeps crashing, though they are still attending more than you'd think.

Potter and DeBenedetti had one of their best weeks in the league.

Down in the farm, Dave Carter suffered an injury that will sideline him for a couple weeks. Every pitcher I like in my system is doing well in A ball. Same in AA and AAA.

3-3 but when you're facing Virginia and Pancho Herrera, you're lucky to win one.

5-1 sim. 7 up in the Pilsner. Tied for best record in the DL. Not a single player on the top players list. What a team! Electric!

Tremendous pitching this week, shutouts galore for the Knights. Took 2/3 from Denver and 2/3 from Maine as we hopefully climb back to .500.

I've mentioned in the last two threads that it's opening soon. Right in the first post.

NO worries... just check your DFA and don't lose someone you don't want to lose.

Some more Syracuse stuff no one cares about:

OF TJ Dimaggio (A) is starting to take form. After a slow rookie season and a carry over of that into April, he OPSed .882 in May and .962 so far in June. Scout still likes him a lot. OSA still likes him. I think there may be something here.

OF Tony Cavazos (AA), picked 11 spots in front of Dimaggio, is really emerging as an elite prospect. After spending most of last year around 25-30, he's up to #7 and tearing up the minors. Started in A ball and OPSed 1.018 in 133 ABs, and through 71 ABs in AA, he's OPSing .994. Steals bases, Pro career 13 SB, 2 CS. Fields RF very well.

C Dave D'Orio, this years 1.10 off to a nice start... .980 OPS.

I like what I have in SP Travis Larkin (AA), a late first rounder from last year. Sub 3.00 ERA in both A and AA careers, lefty, little ratings bump, and hits the mid 90's. Think he will be a nice 3-4 guy some day, if his control develops.

SP Vinny Dugan is headed down to AAA to get things straight. He's been awful this year and I'm worried I've rushed him and he may not be the same.

SP Nate McDonald returns from a rehab stint in Dugan's place.

I gushed about it in the All star thread, but, I really am proud of the pen. I've spent a lot of high-ish and just plain high picks on pen arms, and it's certainly paid off. Not that these guys will keep up this pace, but there's a lot to feel good about when we call to the pen.

Our offense is terrible. Colonel is finally showing signs of life and I'm a big Torres fan, but we've got some real holes. Elijah Hanson is a bum. Luna and Pepe Rodriguez will be fine but it's not their year. Adame is struggling to hit for average, and Tsai is only here because of his defense. Huerta forgot how to play baseball. I'm probably going to stand pat unless a superstar MIF pops up on the market, but, there's not a lot to like at the moment.

I always care. I read every post in the sim threads. Look forward to them.

I just don't read anything in the news section.

Baltimore Bulldogs (44-26, 2nd in the Porter )
                            5-1 for the week
                            2-1 vs CHI
                            3-0 vs DAV
                            • It was definitely nice to get a few back in the win column. We started June winning 6 straight, followed by a 2-9 run against 4 of the best teams in the IL (CAL, PHI, LAD, LOS). That doesn't bode well for our playoff aspirations, but with just 2 more weeks before the All-Star break, I'll take the play we've had to this point.

                            The Good
                            • When the middle of your lineup swings the bat like LF Angelo Barrios, LF Pat Marlin, 3B Antonio Trujillo, did last week, you will always have a good chance of winning ballgames. The three All-Star hopefuls combined for 29/78 (.372), 7 2B, 14 RBI, and 4 HR. Now we did face a couple of rebuilding squads, but the performance builds confidence that has been missing the last couple of weeks.

                            • Our outstanding starting pitching performance for the week comes from an unlikely source. Normally the leader of our bullpen by both attitude and performance, 27 year old reliever, MR Franklin Martinez pitched us to 2 ER, 2 K, 7 IP, 7-2 win in Davenport. This is the 2nd time this year that Martinez has stepped in as a starter and pitched well. We may find ourselves a bit thin on starters next year, so who knows what the future may bring for the Guatemalan star.

                            The Bad
                            • If SP Ignado Sanchez wants an extension in Baltimore, you sure couldn't tell by his play last week. The 34 year old, 1X All-Star was barely able to get out of the 3rd inning, going 4.1 IP with 4 ER, including 2 home runs. Giving up the long ball has been Sanchez's achilles heel his entire career, and getting older hasn't helped at all.

                            The Ugly
                            • CF Ernie Bornstein was injured making a defensive play in our 2-1 win over Davenport on Friday. He'll be out for 2-3 weeks and that injury will seriously impact our ability to steal bases. We only have 20 SB on the season and Bornstein accounts for over half of that number (11).

                            The Farm
                            • This year's 2nd round pick, SP Garrett Mills hit the ground running as professional this week. The 21 year old fireballer from New York pitched in two starts going 2-0 with 14 K and just 1 BB. I'll give him another week or two, but I believe he's going to make the move to Camden (AA) sooner than later.

                            • 2X NCAA Gold Glove Winner (1B), 1B David Maldanado struggled mightily his first week in Orlando (A). David hit just 3/22 this past week and struck out 8 times. I'm sure its just rookie jitters and look forward to monitoring his progress in the coming weeks.

                            The Week Ahead
                            • We feasted on Bock last week, but expect to lose a few against the Bock's better half. Surprisingly we've been an outstanding road team so far this year (22-7) and this week will put that stat to the test. We first get 3 in Carolina, followed by 3 more in Los Alamos. Los Alamos is always a test for us, and depending on which of our stars show up, we may have a chance against Carolina. I'm going to hope for 4-2, but expect a 3-3 week.

Maybe it's too soon with some of these young guys. I might need to give them more time in AAA.
