    NEXT SIM: Wednesday*

    ***

    * - Wednesday's SIM will include the Draft on the final day of the SIM. This makes for one of the longer SIMs of the season, so no real ETA on the file. Exports still due by 7a.

Swept Pittsburgh to be 3 back of first place. So we get swept by Syracuse and returned back to the basement and 7 games back.

Up and down week for everyone. Started off really well with good pitching performances and solid hitting, base running. Then it turned into the expected AAA affair in upstate New York.

A winning week for the Brawlers as we go 5-2. A first for us this season. We take 2 of 3 from Virginia and 3 of 4 from Windy City. Most of the fan base is in shock!

Well look at that. Barrios and Coates broke the Top Players List this week.

              LOL.

Pancho is going to come back from injury with better stuff AND control, according to Mr. Dealba.

Edit: Oh and before panties get in a bunch, just making an observation. Nothing more.

He moved on the Top Player from 2 to 3 to 5 and now back to 4. Not sure if it has to do with the month turning over, stats or what.

Hope he's ready to pitch three days a week when he comes back.

We overcame extreme ineptitude (apparently failed to upload my file this week and my last minute desperate attempt was too late) this week to post a 6-1 record and keep ourselves in the discussion. That's our goal at this point, stick around as long as we possibly can and see what happens at the end. Crazy Porter race shaping up.

Injuries are really hurting us. Fortunately, I was able to get some depth to keep our lineup going.

Our pitching has been brutal. We have a great bullpen on paper who performed well last year and aren't on the downside of their careers, but they've been getting hammered.

This is really clever until you realize we're in first place. With a better record than Clay. For the first time in probably 13 years.

                          The Porter is sick.

We have absolute no power in Batavia...17 HR's in 51 games is unbelievable. Give us some decent starters (they're in the minors) and two big bats and we're .500 or above.

Oh well maybe in a few years.

We were in that same boat for years (no power). 1B Wessin Ramirez hit 7 HR this week.

Baltimore Bulldogs (35-16, 1st in the Porter)

                              1-2 at WAS
                              4-0 at CAL

                              • Brought the broom with us to In-And-Out and left with a perilous perch atop the Porter. Even though we didn't hit nearly as well as I would've liked in D.C., our pitching was very good against two of the better teams in the IL.

                              The Good
                              • Angelo Barrios (OF) has arrived folks. After another SS type performance this past week, Angelo not only signed a new deal that will keep him in Baltimore for 5 more years, but has worked his way up to #16 on the Top Players List.

                              • Looks like our rotation and bullpen were up for a little role reversal this week. Our starters were lights out, posting a 1.77 ERA while our bullpen was questionable at best, giving up 9 ER in just 15.3 IP.

                              • Former 1st round draft pick, Antonio Trujillo (SS) picked up IL POW Honors this past sim. The kid is on pace to post career best marks in nearly every offensive category this year. Its something we've expected from Antonio for about two years now and its nice to see him come around to the level of performance we always knew he could attain.

                              The Bad
                              • We are seriously contemplating the future of 37 year old, veteran catcher, Kyoden Kubota (C). Kubota has seen a steep dropoff in performance and has become a huge defensive liability behind the plate, while not showing the ability to make it up offensively on the other end.

                              • In probably the worst outing I've ever seen for Basil Petrohilos (CL), the star from Greece gave up 5 H, 3 ER in 2 IP in a 13-6 win over California this past week. Normally, I'd be pissed, but when we sweep California for the week, I will not complain.

                              The Ugly
                              • We were unable to get anything going against Washington. Their defense is rock solid again this year and I'm not too sure they are a team I'd like to see if we are still around come playoff time. We just don't hit well in D.C.

                              The Farm
                              • I'm really wondering if my scouting team its head on straight. Top prospect, Diego Flores (C/1B) seems to be just about ready for the BLB, despite only playing in A and AA ball. We are known for pushing guys up quickly (perhaps too quickly), but with his performance in AA this year, coupled by the impending departure of Kubota (either by release, trade, or no re-sign), we may see the highly touted prospect in the BLB sooner than later.

                              The Week Ahead
                              • We continue on in divisional play with 2 vs. Batavia, 2 at Philly, closing out divisional play for the month of June with at home against California. I'll say we go 4-3 this week.
