Pittsburg Millers (18-14, T-1st in the Ale)

                  3-0 vs Indianapolis
                  1-2 vs Syracuse

First time since '97 the Millers find themselves still in contention 32 games into the season.

                  The Good

RF Dave Crews- wins his first ever BLB player of the week award. Crews is a guy quite a few teams inquired about this offseason who must have seen the same bump in ratings my scout and OSA saw. With 8 HR's and 22 RBI's so far it looks like we made the right decision in keeping his 280k contract and hitting potential in town.

SP Ramano Jacopino- finally saw his ERA creep over 1.00 in his fifth start this season. He did however get his 5th straight win in that game. Although he did lose the last game of the week, Jaco is 5-1 with a 2.41 ERA. Not having to be the ace has Jaco gunning for his first all-star appearence since '95 and '96.

                  The Bad

SP Deron Ryan- has been terrible. At 1-4 with a 6.69 ERA he really misses the safe confines of the New York Knights old pitcher friendly stadium. Ryan has only made it the sixth inning twice in 6 starts putting pressure on our BP (which has been pretty darn good this year).

                  The Ugly

1B Clint Barnes- has been our best hitter this year with a slash of .312/.393/.495. So of course we are terrified to see the dreaded diagnosis pending. He was hit by a pitch by Slammers pitcher Pepe Sanchez in an 11-3 blowout.

                  The Week Ahead

We play our first series in the new Kennedy Field and our pitchers are looking forward to it as it appears to have the same demensions as their old park in Mississippi. We then host Dallas and face Mr. Dimmick for the second time this season. Our pitching is the best it's been in years but New York's pitchers are usually built for their park and we face Dimmick in game 2 of the Dallas series. So with that Ill say 1-2 @ Mississippi and 1-2 vs Dallas for a 2-4 week.

I think both Philly and Baltimore can continue to contend because we both are a bit deeper (IMHO) pitching than Cali. That Fisher injury will show a bigger impact in the 2nd half of the season. You can only lean on Jeremiah Washington as your #1 for so long.

Yes Cali's offense is awesome, but as I mentioned, our starters haven't pitched well yet. Miles will be back and you'll be right back in it. I'm not worried about us (Philly and Baltimore) remaining competitive at all.
I believe you mean one-time IL All-Star Jeremiah Washington.

But yes, I agree. Pitching will be our biggest obstacle this year, as it always seems to be.

Pancho Herrera tore his rotator cuff and missed 14 months and had a pretty good career.

Rotator cuff surgery is much worse than TJ.
