      • With the 169th pick in the 2001 draft the Bulldogs select 18 year old high school shortstop, Stephen Davis.

Considered a top tier defensive infielder in the draft, Davis will be the latest project for our 2001 draft that is chock full of doomed projects. Davis is one of the few players in the draft that may make it as a pitcher. Also one of the fastest players in the draft, we look forward to giving him a chance as a relief pitcher in our minor league system.

        • Very happy to snag Tommy Hewitt with our 10th rd pick.

Not because he'll be any good, mind you, but because it means we are done with the draft . . . unless we trade back into one of the last 8 picks.

With the 124th pick, the Bats selected LF Jimmy Lawson. My scout doesn't see him as much of a hitter but he has him 6-7-4 as a pitcher. What's interesting, he played LF most of his HS career but this sim he was "converted from LF to Pitcher." I don't think I've ever seen that before.

              01/01/2001 OSA scouting updated ratings (potential): Contact: 2 (4); Power: 2 (2); Eye: 2 (3).
05/15/2001 Was converted from Left Field to Pitcher.
05/15/2001 Released by the Xavier Falcons.

OSA has his pitching potential at 7-7-4.

                  • Not seeing it, but I could be wrong.

I think Kelvin Diaz will be the highest rated pitcher.

I'll go with Javier Villareal as the highest rated hitter.

                        • DRAFT IS IN

A couple notes to be aware of...

Two teams received additional SANDWICH ROUND picks after the deadline - New York and Syracuse. Each team was randomly assigned an undrafted player in order to complete the draft. You're welcome to keep them or dump them.

                          ***

The "round after the sandwich" glitch came up again which rendered 5 picks in the middle of the 2nd round unable to be edited before drafting. To correct it, I had to just draft them to the teams that were there and then manually moved to the correct team. For reference, here are the impacted players:
                          * 2.11 - Jarod Davidson - Taken by Carolina - Moved to Virginia
                          * 2.12 - Micah Bunting - Taken by New York - Moved to Pittsburgh
                          * 2.13 - Dave Carter - Taken by Philly - Moved to Denver
                          * 2.14 - Hector Torres - Taken by Hartford - Moved to Indy
                          * 2.15 - Marco Lona - Taken by Los Alamos - Moved to Pawtucket

Not sure if it impacts much. Might screw up the history utility, but I can't control that.
                          The Great One!
