        Couple thoughts here...

3- SP Victor Lemus - Great pick. Feels like a really "safe" pick. Scout has him as the 4th best overall prospect in the draft, "Top Flight Starter", good intangibles, good stats, two-time pitcher of the year winner and he has a nickname.

4- OF Freddy Rodriguez - My scout has him as the best hitter in the draft. Elite intangibles. Can hit, run and defend. My only issue is taking a international guy this high is sometimes risky, but I do like the pick. I might have gone with a "safer" choice at 1.4, but he easily has the highest potential of any player at this point.

5- 2B Tyler Wood - My scout has him as the third best overall hitter in the draft and easily the best amongst infielders. Like Rodriguez, he can hit, run and field at a high level. The issue is the intangibles. I don't think you can have a worse makeup. Very high greed and very low everything else. Again, who knows how much that affects a player and team but the dude is a d-bag.

6 - SP Kelvin Diaz - I have two other SPs rated higher but I do like Diaz. My scout thinks he will be a #3 starter. Love the high control guys. Has great intangibles. I'm a bit wary of him being just 17, international and only a "3" on stamina, according to my report. I had Diaz pegged for the #10-#12 range but has good potential.

7 - SS David Santoyo - A little earlier than expected. I have Santoyo at a first round grade but thought he would probably go in the teens. My scout thinks he could be better than just a regular. Should be able to hit pretty well. However, while he is defensively versatile, he can probably play 2B, 3B, SS, LF, CF, RF, he can't play any position besides 1B at a high level. Doesn't really fit the "Bat Model" so he was lower on my board but a solid pick...especially for being auto'd.

8 - 1B Hector Feliciano - Personally, if I'm picking this high, unless the guy is the next Dani Alveraz, I don't take a 1B. But, Feliciano looks like a good player. International but played four collegiate years. Stats are great. Elite intangibles. Won Hitter of the Year. Lefty. Not looking forward to seeing him in the Stout in probably 2-3 years.

9 - 2B Frank Caballero - My scout isn't too high on him but he definitely could be wrong. OSA absolutely loves the kid. Could be a solid 2B/SS and looks like he can run a bit. You gotta trust your scout. Mine projects him to be a spot starter.

After the first nine picks, I have a very solid top 10 big board. After that ten, I see the talent grade dropping quite a bit. I pick at 1.24...it's currently 1.10....I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Oh thank god you picked him!!! Not cuz he was bad player, I'm just so sick of picking IF's and I stick with "best available" when picking in the first round.(he rated high on my list) In the end, your pick made mine a no-brainer.

              Nice pick Mwetts!!!

Absolutely love the D'Orio pick by Syracuse. I was wondering when he was going to go.

Took another C, Dave 'Champ' D'Orio.

In Syracuse, we have a great history drafting catchers... only problem is most of them are in other organizations now. Luna, Huerta, Hardwick, Shumway just to name a couple.

Good pick, now when does his doppelganger 'Muscles' go.

"Champ" reminds me a lot of "The Crow". Mal Brady was the 12th pick. D'Orio 10. Poor catcher defense. Elite HR power. Free swinger. Strikes out a lot. I have two hitters higher on my board but none with that type of power. Good pick.

Funny you say your sick of it cause with all the draft picks I have had in the first round the last 4 years (something like 10?) he is only the second IF. Hoping to pair him with AA SS Alex Martinez in few years at the BLB level.

I like the guy you drafted as well.

It's not easy to find middle infielders who have homerun power and great defense. My scout has Javier Villarreal at 5-6-6-3-5 potential and 6-7-7-6 defensive ratings. Already pretty developed at 21-years-old, combined with his great work ethic, Villarreal could be in the BLB really soon. OSA hates him. He is international. Very high greed. Very low leadership. But by far the best IF prospect IMO at this point in the draft.

Agreed, but this is why I also feared him.....

When I trade for him he was 43rd prospect. Lost his eye POT from 3 to 2 and the rest was history. Poor eye kids just scare the shit of me.

It will definitely be his Achilles heel and that combined with the lack of scouting reports from being international, he is a "risk" pick. There are safer options out there but Villarreal has the potential to be an All-Star.
