Boehmer started off his Denver career with a complete game shut out of Maine.

Then we lost 4 straight and won Boehmer's second start 1-0 in which he threw 5.2 shutout innings.

So, yeah, that happened. I wonder if I could get Boehmer to take some Japanese lessons and throw every other day.

At least Troy Clark pitched an 8 inning complete game immediately following that Opening Day complete game by Boehmer. He lost, however, 3-2, despite giving up only one earned run. Them's the breaks.

Harris Vreke hit the first Denver home run of the 2001 season. He keeps hitting the ball out and I don't know how he's doing it.

Tommy Keatts had the first hit of the season. A triple. He eventually scored the first run when Curt Wells drove in the first RBI.

      2-4 to start the season.

        Pawtucket 2-4.

Held our own against that new upstart NewYork team taking the series on the road. Then the champs came to town and showed us we have a ways to go. Interesting we played tough in each of those games until the 8th/9th innings. It seemed New Orleans was just toying with us though like the Jordan era Bulls teams use to do. Fucken Dynasty teams.

The Good: Top 3 guys in the rotation. Kept us in all games they pitched. No complaints. Zach Mitchell picked up right where he left off in AAA batting .308 playing every game. Not going to lie, the kid wont walk much but should get good wood on the ball most at bats.

The bad Thumb contusion??? 3 weeks?? Jarava as was predicted goes down with an injury. Luckily wasn't a long one. Ole Mens out a week and Gill still out. Hopefully we are just getting our injury bug out of the way early this season. As for Jarava....gives us a chance to bring a HOT player back up to play in the BLB (See minor report)

UGLY Andy Melendez continues his poor pitching. 'Coffin' got gang raped by his former team. Quinn off to a poor start, but he did draw 4 walks. Its early.

The Farm Wont ever understand why he never showed in the top 100, but Todd Boyce who batted .400+ in spring just continues to hit well batting .379 in AAA. He gets the call up this week with Jarava going down. Vacarella & Guzman looks sharp early on.

5-1 including an early sweep of the Colonials. I'll take it.

Our starters, as a rotation, were hot garbage. Very lucky to go 5-1 with that kind of performance. Fortunately, our offense was assisted by park factors, that helped us to a .324 average and 7 HR (Best in the IL) for the week. Plus, our bullpen was lights out (as usual).

Angelo Barrios must've been pretty upset that I shopped him this off-season and took out his frustrations on both Morgantown and Colonials. I like the way we look to start the season as I expect the pitching was more opening season jitters than anything else.

If the first week is any indication, it looks like I'm going to need every run to compete in the BLB's most formidable division this year.

So Freddy Boehmer is 2-0 in Denver and Pancho is 0-2 in Virginia? What a strange world we live in.

Ok just really noticed that we are 5-1 overall...5-0 in 1-run games.

We are already much better than last year in that category.
