I was surprised on one mentioned it before I did.

It says his promised role is as a starter. Anyone give a contract promising a specified role and gone against it before? If so, how did the player react?

P Jason Mcqueen was promised starter (I think Z said he didn't realize it at the time) and got really upset about being in the BP last year. Not sure how much it actually impacted his stats.

He can't start, so it will wind up being moot.

It won't go well for Linty if he was promised to be a starter and isn't. He will get upset fast and his numbers will likely tank.

But with so much talent, it may not hurt Cali at all.

This is not meant to sound snide but honestly just wondering (since he was your guy for so long) why you think that since he has never tried it?

His stamina's a 3, his stuff is average, and he doesn't have a dominant pitch. I wouldn't even try it.

Fair enough I have the stamina as a 4. But that dominant pitch thing, something to that.

Yeah, I mean, I don't blame a guy for taking a chance on someone, but the contract is just bananas. Especially after the uproar from Pat's contract.

I'd rather it not be a game of how badly we can take advantage of the system, but how long before everyone else tries to keep up?

This rule needs to be done THIS season and grandfathered as well.

Tried it 4 spring trainings. I would be surprised if he posted a sub 4.50.

Had a feeling that might have been when you tried it.

I never felt ST was a good test for a "can he be a starter?" pitcher. They are only going four innings, so it's not a great sample. Plus, they are pitching against a lot of shitty players they won't be facing at the BLB level.

I think Anaya is worth a shot at SP because of his history on/off the top players list. If he falters, California moves him to the pen. If he is pissed about not starting, and sucks in the pen, waive him. He didn't commit much guaranteed money.

I fully intend to use him as a starter. It is my understanding if you don't use them in their promised roles they bomb.

I'll even make this promise now.

I promise to leave him in the rotation the entire year as long as he stays healthy and keeps his ERA under 3.75.
