Finished this during halftime of the Michigan game so pardon the grammatical nightmares...

Free Agency is now over a month old and many of the biggest names have finally found new homes. SHAVERMETRICS takes a look at the second round of Free Agency today on SHAVERMETRICS SAYS…
HIGH RISK. HIGH REWARD
Washington Bats: Signed free agent LF Yidir Adili to a 2-year contract worth a total of $52,000,000.
Yidir Adili, arguably the gem of offensive Free Agency, couldn’t bear to leave the Stout. Though some scratch their heads at Adili’s clear lack of self-esteem in his willingness to sign with a team that publically called him mediocre just this week, it’s hard to argue with the dollars. $52.0 over just two years looks huge, but the second year ($32) is a team option and is set in stone to be declined. DC had the money and thinks they have the team to win, so out comes the checkbook.
SHAVERMETRICS FINAL ANALYSIS: Though this move will garner public praise under the “if you have it spend it” or “go for it” moniker… other Owner’s should be furious with the idea of “gaming” the system with this ridiculous team option that violates almost every gentleman clause that has existed in baseball since the beginning of time. With a player who has not played over 137 games in over 5 years and lost 8 weeks to injuries just last season…. SHAVERMETRICS doesn’t ever wish harm on a player… but math somestimes says Karma is a bitch.
Pawtucket Patriots: Signed free agent 2B Helespôntico Jarava to a 2-year contract worth a total of $38,800,000.
Pawtucket had money and lives with the itchiest trigger finger in the BLB. THAT is how a guy with this injury history coming off a broken kneecap gets $39 guaranteed. Jarava, if healthy, is an OBP guy who can be a textbook #2 hitter in almost any lineup. Everyone needs help up the middle and Pawtucket was willing to gamble.
SHAVERMETRICS FINAL ANALYSIS: Again, high risk… high reward. Jarava doesn’t have the best injury history, but signing a guy before his injured time even expires concerns the SM team that he may come back FRAGILE. That kind of money locked into a guy who may ride the Disabled List with no outs in the contract could get ugly. He’ll certainly help Pawtucket’s SM number, but he has to be on the field for it to matter.
STICK AROUND
Los Angeles Dinos: Signed SP Alex Torres to a 4-year contract extension worth a total of $56,000,000.
Virginia Colonials: Signed 1B Héctor Chávez to a 5-year contract extension worth a total of $86,000,000.
Two perennial playoff teams locked up important pieces on shockingly team friendly deals.
FINANCIAL RELIEF
Maine Guides: Signed free agent CL Willie Taylor to a 3-year contract worth a total of $16,000,000.
Maine Guides: Signed free agent MR Pat Williamson to a 3-year contract worth a total of $12,000,000.
Maine didn’t have a bad bullpen last year, but Management clearly feels that money can make it even better!
BETTING ON A BOUNCEBACK
Denver Bulls: Signed free agent 2B Geoff Scott to a 3-year contract worth a total of $4,500,000.
Denver Bulls: Signed free agent LF Loren Wallace to a 3-year contract worth a total of $14,500,000.
Baltimore Bulldogs: Signed free agent 3B Masaoki Matsumoto to a 3-year contract worth a total of $16,000,000.
Morgantown Mohawks: Signed free agent 2B Raúl Águila to a 2-year contract worth a total of $10,000,000.
Four guys who all played below their career average last year all took home fair deals for a shot at redemption.
