Cheers to big injuries and missing the playoffs. We are ready to move on, so lets trade some players. We have some difference makers and some solid role players.

        Was a good run.

Note: Has anyone ever noticed wherever Rex Morgan plays somehow, someway, some unknown reason the team ends up missing the playoffs??? It has to be a huge coincidence, but have to admit its very odd.

          Pawtucket 4-3.

Going into this week Pawtucket was down 3 starting pitchers. So what do we do? We sweep Dallas. Strange game. Just love giving up draft position the final month.

Special shout outs to the following rookies having pretty decent seasons:

SS Orlando Saucedo - the most important player in this group. Projected to be bottom of the order guy in the future, batting .282 and not a horrid strikeout/ walk ratio that I was expecting. Bouncing between 5 & 6 for contact. Think he will hold down SS for awhile here.

SP Ruben Aparicio - 9-3 , not bad when you consider the team he's on. His walks are embarrassing, but seems to be getting it together in Sept going 4-0/ 2.70 era and more importantly 9BB/ 20 SO's.

RP Jimmy Esterson - ok, this kid pretty much sucked in the minors as a starter. We were hopeful, but always sort of knew he was a LRP/ 6th starter at best. Well after being called up he's had a fantastic September going 5/5 with saves 1.08 ERA & .96 WHIP.

None of these guys were ever to expected to carry a team, but its nice to see some nice young role players to finally take shape and perform.

Now for the hard part in 2001...impact players.

Goto and Alvarez are the bright rookies for Carolina in a year that will be not be remembered unless we suck again next season.

Well, not exactly what we had in mind when the season started, but we will end up playing a significant role in determining the Porter champion in the final week of the season. Good luck to you both.

It has already been decided. Going 1-5 against the two playoff contenders including 2 shutouts tells the whole story.

Ok week. Looks like we may back our way into the playoffs... but like last year I'm not expecting much if we do make the dance.

Still don't understand what Los Angeles is doing with their lineups... but whatever keeps them winning, I suppose.

Los Angeles could go 7-0 next week to win 100 games this season.......and then break up the team?

No offense Jimmy, but I still just don't get it. You won 90+ games despite nagging injuries for the entire year. Your offense is top notch. Retool the pitching and you've got the best team in the DL (which you may already have).

If playoff positions hold in the IL... watch out for a crazy playoff. DC v Los Alamos is far more interesting than one might think. LA actually won the season series. Injuries this last SIM may hurt him, but might not be the run away that people think.

Also... if playoff positions hold... the 4 IL Playoff teams will be the four teams with the best ROAD records. #ScrewHomeCookin

If we are both lucky enough to make the playoffs I full expect our season fortunes to reverse themselves in the playoffs and you earn an easy sweep.
