Have the playoff races ever been this deep this late into the year?

-Maine leads Hartford by three but they still have 9 HTH games.
-Los Angeles has a four game lead over NO but just lost Derrek Tucker and 7 HTH games.
-Dallas leads Indy by two but they have 7 HTH games.
-The WC has three teams one game apart.

-Washington leads Virginia by seven but they have 7 HTH games left.
-Los Alamos leads by eight over Carolina with only 5 HTH games left.
                -Baltimore and California are tied.
-The WC has three teams two games apart.

Things could change quickly, sure, but right now it's pretty tight.

Washington Bats (86-43; 1st Place in Stout)

                  2-1 @ California
                  3-0 @ Carolina

Went 5-1 against good road competition but the games were really close. Here ya go Fsquid!

Best Game: Bats rookie OF B.J. Jobe hits a game-winning RBI single in the 10th to beat Carolina 6-5 after the Bats give up two in the 9th to force extra innings.

Worst Game: I think Loren Washington has lost some of his magic. His second loss in a row, this one he only lasted five innings after giving up two homers and four runs in a 2-6 loss to California.

                  The Good
-I think I should have moved SP Tom Downs to the rotation sooner. In his second start, he went into California and pitched a gem. 8 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 4 K and 0 BB (hasn't walked a batter since August 9th). If he keeps this up he is going to have an argument to make the rotation for the playoffs which I never would have expected two sims ago.

-Speaking of pitching surprises, going into the year I would have never expected SP Travis DuFour to be my "best" starter this season. He leads my rotation in WHIP, strikeouts and is a close second in ERA. This week in a 10-1 win over Carolina he pitched a 1-run complete game.

                  The Bad
-Another OF gets hurt. This time it's star CF Heishu Shiraishi. Oblique strain. Out a week. Time served this sim though, he will be healthy after sitting out this first three game series.

                  The Ugly
-MR Phil McSwain since being traded from Davenport has struckout 19 batters and only walked one. Now that's just nasty.

                  The Farm
-My Triple-A Richmond Rams will play for the Championship this sim. Unfortunately for them, a few star players will be needed with BLB Roster Expansion. I'm playing Hartford, so I would expect him to have BLB competition as his priority but maybe not. SP Nick Cortes will start. You guys are familiar with him by now I'm sure.

                  The Week Ahead
-Finally the road trip is over! Home cookin'! I get three vs. Morgantown and four vs. Virginia. The Mohawks are on a six game winning streak and are playing their best ball since April. Also the Bats are just 5-4 against them this season. I expect a harder than expected series and I'll even say 1-2 prediction with the injuries and rest I will be giving some players. The Virginia series is big. It's a four banger. The last time these teams met, Virginia swept the four game series. That was the first week of August and the Bats have only lost four times since those loses. If Virginia does well, they are right back in the Stout hunt and a very nice Wild Card lead. If Virginia falters, the Stout could be beyond their reach and they might find themselves looking up at Baltimore and California for the WC. I'll say 2-2 prediction. If I can get a 4-3 week, I'll consider it a big success.

With "pending diagnosis" not allowing me to confidently set lineups and the fact that you get my bottom part of the rotation, if you don't take 3 from me, you should be ashamed.

Like I said earlier, never seen the contenders so balanced record wise. Some good teams will be staying home this offseason WITHOUT the aid of nutty 79 or 81 win teams sneaking in the playoffs.

Fun to watch, very stressful for the contenders.

Loving the race against Baltimore. Been micro managing looking for even the smallest of advantages I can find.

Of course I'd like to run away with the division, but if I can't have that, I want a race to the final day.
