Seisaku Naito wins IL POTW honors. That's about the only good thing that happened for us this week as we get swept by VIR and post a 2-4 record overall. #FtheColonials

Pawtucket 3-3. Funny how we play the first place teams with some sort of pride.

Since he's an option player, Rod Phillips might have seen his last week in Pawtucket. Thang Mac will take over his spot. Sad, I liked Rod. Had some good seasons for us. Its just maybe time to move on.

On the farm: Lost Ed for 9 months. Sux, but expected this by the way he was performing when I moved him to AA this season. We still have the same Doctor who saved Ocampo's career and still young so just have to play it out and see how it goes.

The kids in AAA are still tearing it up while the starting pitchers in AA are for the most part pitching lights out. Come September I'm expecting 6-8 callups.

4-2 as we win both series against our Stout opponents, including 2/3 against Washington. We are pretty tough to beat at home. That may be the opening that Cali needs, since we are playing so many home games early in the season.

Sorry Pat. You can no longer trot Joe Lefty into Phillips Field for an easy win.

4-2 for the Brawlers this week and glad to have it. Still got a ways to go but at least it's nice to have two winning sims in a row.

                          Winning on sheer pride.

Big Jon is a 3 game HR streak, Pierce continues to chug along, and the rest of the staff were solid this week. Oscar Vargas is making some noise in the SS slot as well.

All in all a logic defying 2 games out of first place.

                              Down on the farm.

Our new draftees did exceptionally well in their debuts.

Oscar Gaxiola threw a 2-run complete game and then surrendered one run over 7 innings in a loss. 1-1 with a 1.69 ERA. Only 3 Ks but also only 3 BB.

Jamie Benge threw 8 shutout innings in his first start, striking out 5 and walking none.

Jimmy Sciortino lost a 2-0 game. He struck out 8 over 8 innings, walking 2.

The AAA squad has been struggling. Larivee and Parra didn't fare well in their promotions. Parra will go back down to AA. He needs it. Larivee will get another shot to see if he can hang.

Jermaine Taylor (highlighted by Delandis as an Honorable Mention in the minors) was impressive. He struck out 10 in 8 innings for a 4-1 win. He's 28 but perhaps he's finally getting it.

Potter and Mueller had their worst starts of the year. Hopefully, it's just an aberration. But it's nice to see Benedetti having a strong June. He just needs to work on his defense.

Zarco is going back all the way down to A ball to rebuild some confidence. He has really struggled since suffering a strained oblique.

The AA Squad is slowly running away from the rest of the Mash and has now appeared as the top team in Power Rankings for two straight weeks.

Ed Pierce is closing in on that power he showcased back in Falmouth when he hit 18 homeruns his senior year. He's currently tied for the AA league lead with 11.

Pat Johnson hasn't slowed down. We don't expect him to be successful in the BLB, but he's hit .400 in April, .280 in May, and now .395 in June for a .351 average, second to Hugh Crawford who's 8 years older.

                              The BLB level is crap.
