C Ignacio Huerta - I think gets the nod as best C in the DL over Gould. Best AVG among catchers, best OBP, highest OPS (.905). Better range, throwing out close to 40% of baserunners. Third highest OBP in the entire DL.

3B Pepe Rodriguez - not a lot to scream about at 3B in the DL this year but Pepe leads them in runs, triples, HRs, RBIs, SLG%, and OPS.
    Charlotte Knights - OSFL
    Syracuse Slammers - BLB
South America - 1984 WBC Runner Up

I'm gonna pimp my former Denver drafted products.

          Tufts
          Sinclair
          Hautbourg

Great seasons from those three. Seeing those names has rekindled faith in my ability to find talent.

Also, much love to Rex Morgan and Pete Fitzgerald. Seeing those two names has rekindled disappointment in trading away youth to get them to play for a bad team.

SP - DeWitt Pierce ...give this guy some love!

Maybe a couple of my relivers. That's about it.

Ming Er is pretty good too.

Derek Vluegel (SP): 6-4, 2.48 ERA, 1.14 WHIP

-Vluegel was my bold prediction for IL Pale Ale and is earning your vote to represent the IL in the All-Star game. He's having a great bounce back year coming in 6th in ERA, 1st K's and K/9 (almost 10 K/game), a cool 1.14 ERA and 3rd in the IL in WAR.

              Sadaharu Katsura (SP): 7-1, 2.34 ERA, 6.03 H/9 (2nd)

-Katsura has come around a bit earlier than expected. He's 4th in the IL in ERA (2.34) and wins (7), 2nd in H/9 (6.03), 6th in HR/9 (.33), 8th in K's (67), and 3rd in OAVG (.201). He's just having an all-around good year and deserves a vote.

Basil Petrohilos (MR): 0-1, 1.12 ERA, .77 WHIP

Having appeared in 40 games, the Grecian star is tops in WAR for relievers, has only walked six guys all year, struck out 47 while refusing to give up a home run (in Phillips Field) in over 40 innings of work.

Pat Marlin (OF): .319/.393/.630, 19 HR, 46 RBI

              - I told a fellow BLB owner before the season that Marlin would step in and replace Rex easily. Now he doesn't have Rex's eye or speed, but he's beast in left field and he's making one of my bold predictions look really good.

Angelo Barrios (OF): .315/.357/.495, 9 HR, 27 RBI

-Barrios is also playing well. Probably one of the top 4 or 5 center fielders in the IL, Barrios has played well and may just be good enough to earn a coaches spot.

I don't usually PIMP (and won't PIMP the obvious ones aka Pancho, Daly, Chavez)... but take a look at Darrel Turner (SP). He's been a gamer.

Remember, the Washington Bats have the best record in the IL. Players who deserve pimping:

C Mal "The Crow" Brady - He deserves to be in the All-Star game. He handles one of the best staffs in the game and puts up monster numbers despite being in a pitchers park for half the games. Look at his splits: .831 OPS at home, .931 OPS on the road. While the other IL catcher candidate, California's Turcotte, is hitting .956 at home and .895 on the road.

SS Shawn Nolan - With how lacking we are with infielders, I thought Nolan deserves some consideration. He's the best fielding shortstop in the IL and despite playing in a pitchers park, he has put up pretty respectable numbers this year. Virginia's Anastasio Coln is a negative in the field and has the benefit of a hitters park and hitting in an All-Star filled lineup.

SP Loren Washington - He's 9-0 with a 2.56 ERA and 1.10 WHIP. Enough said.

RP Clarence Ortiz and RP C.J. Skinner - Ortiz has been the best closer in the IL and Skinner has been the best middle reliever.

                  ---

Honorable Mention: SP Nakazo 'Chuckwagon' Sasaki, his last start probably cost him some votes. 1B Nari Garin is having an amazing year but first is a tough position to get voted in on. 2B Jeremiah Kelly is having a bounce back year but there are other more worthy second basemen. However, with the recent injury, I think the IL managers should consider him for the game.

PIMPING and trying to talk down other team's players are way different things. In a related story, you've just guaranteed you won't get any Manager's picks.

Let's be honest there, he wasn't getting any anyway. I doubt that was the deal breaker.

Except for everything you said about Colon. VIR is not a hitters park for RH batters. The overall numbers are skewed by deep lefthanded batter lineups. He's also an above average defender in the IL. Hes hit unprotected in an injury riddled lineup all season.

It doesn't matter to me who gets in. But the homer goggles and attempts to tell owners that others dont 'deserve' a spot is not a shock from the source.

In keeping with our yearly custom, we will not be pimping any players since their numbers speak for themselves.
