Wow...didn't see that coming. "How to win without talent." Oh well gonna ride it. For some reason we've been really good...and lucky at home.

Extended DeWitt Pierce by one year. Maybe the most under rated SP in the BLB right now. Couldn't get any sort of reasonable deal for him the last two years and now he's tearing it up. League leading 7 wins one of the worst offenses in baseball. ERA now 1.98 and cracked the top players list for the first time. He'll make a fine mentor.

One more week without Big Jon. Been a great month!

At least Hartford and New Orleans are able to remind the league how to get it done.

Washington Bats (28-16; 1st Place in Stout)

                      3-0 @ Carolina
                      1-2 vs. Los Alamos
This team continues to be impressive on the road and mediocre at home. The Bats are now a league best (I'm assuming) 18-4 on the road. Oh, and Squid...here ya go!

                      The Good
-It's been a long time coming but SP Travis DuFour might finally be a player these days. Drafted 1.15 in 1994, DuFour made his BLB debut at 25 at the end of the 1998 season. After last years so-so performance at 26, 9-12, 4.41 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, I had my doubts that he would ever reach his #1 starter potential. However, he has now thrown four straight quality starts including this week, a eight inning gem, giving up no runs and only allowing five base runners.

                      The Bad
-Neither rookie debut was that good. Neither LF BJ Jobe nor 3B Tyler McLouth hit that well to justify their call-ups. Jobe struck out nine times in six games and McLouth had just three hits in 12 ABs. Not the best sign.

                      The Ugly
-The Bats are 10-12 at home this season. Normally they have a huge advantage and a team built to the park. However, something is different this year. Still a small sample size but if this team wants to compete we have to win more home games.

                      The Farm
-Top prospect SP Lorenzo Campos (11th overall) made his Triple-A debut...and pitched eight shutout innings. With the depth of my BLB rotation, and the other Triple-A options I have in case of injury, there is no rush with Campos but he will likely get a ST invite in 2001. SP Tyler Doming who was acquired just this week from Los Alamos debuts at #13 on the Organizational Top 20. He's a borderline top 100 talent right now but when the draft picks are entered he will fall down a bit further but I like what he brings to the organization.

                      The Week Ahead
-Three vs. Batavia. Four @ Wilmington. So far this season the Bats are 3-0 against Batavia and 2-0 against Wilmington. I don't expect to go undefeated but a good week. I'll say sweep at home against the Muckdogs and 2-2 split on the road against the Blue Wave.

                      Seattle Pilots- 2017-2041
                      Washington Bats - 1979-2013

                          Pawtucket 2-4. We suck.

Waiting for the June rescout and see how some of these new draft picks look.

Speaking of prospects: Hate to see the #1 prospect in baseball take an injury like that.

4 arm related injuries in college. It was a matter of time.

It hasn't been a great year for pitchers in the Clowns organisation.
