Jaap Ouwendijk tossed a perfect game in AAA. Guess he wants back in the BLB.

Keifer lost his first game and then bounced back with a one hit win.

Scout liked 2nd round pick Simmons.

Pitching staff should get much better soon. A lot of young arms.

Shame goes out to my homies in Pawtucket. Thanks for helping us pick up our first three game winning streak of the season.

Props to Curt Stewart who is doing exceptional work as the closer of a 9-win team.

Haven't checked our minors yet to comment on it.

          10 RBI in a week?

          I'm not happy AT ALL.

The pitchers we picked up in full rebuild trades this off-season are doing pretty well.

Potter (AAA) is now 7-0 with a 0.99 ERA. And he's only 22 so it isn't as if he's dominating at an advanced age. Struck out 10 in his latest start after a shutout game previously. Also has a 15K game in the mix.

Roch Larivee (AA) is currently 5-1 with a 1.81 ERA. He's older at 23, but will get a promotion by mid-season. He just rolled through the first place Buffalo Red Wings with 16K's in 8 innings.

                Definitely happy to see that.

Our time has passed, but I'll take 2 DL titles in the Virginia era as consolation. It was a good run for a 60 win franchise.

I'm just looking at the top half of your rotation (all men I drafted) and a couple hitters that are more than contributing and I'm realizing that maybe I knew what I was doing at one point before I went crazy.

You still have time to throw your hat in the ring. Never know, still might win one.

                        SIM 5: Baltimore Bulldogs (23-9)
                        2-1 at WAS
                        3-0 vs MOR

As I said earlier, a nice week against two pretty good teams out of the Stout. Although, it did take a 2-run, 9th inning blast by Barrios, plus 8 extra innings to pull off the series win over the Bats.

                        THE GOOD

-Every starter went at least 6 2/3 last week with noone giving up more than 3 ER in each start. It looks like the boys are finally growing up and the men are transforming into the well-rounded pitching staff
                        I envisioned 4-5 years ago.

-I'm very proud of Wade Coates (SP). He seems to have come from his injury an even better pitcher and may have finally learned to keep those walks under control. For now, he'll still be a spot starter/mop-up guy but if he continues to show up in his spot starts, he may supplant veteran pitcher, Raul Guzman as our normal #5.

-After a bit of a slow start to the season, Angelo Barrios (OF) has started to heat up and is starting to look more and more like a legit threat. Last week, he hit .353 including the 442 ft, 2-run bomb that allowed the team to battle a tough Washington bullpen for 17 innings and an eventual 4-3 win. I am also surprised with his defensive ability. I knew he'd have the ability to roam the corners, but I had no idea he would blossom into a defensive wizard in center field.

-I guess I should be happy that nobody bit on the trade for Nagisa Kobayashi. Although he is still struggling against RHP for now, Kobayashi is showing flashes of brilliance as he went 6/14 last week and makes it a lot tougher to bring a LHP to Phillips Field. I'd watch out for this kid. I guess having real depth in the outfield cannot be bad thing, right?

                        THE BAD

-After a monster start to the season, blossoming star, Antonio Trujillo has cooled off a bit. Considering Trujillo just signed a new contract as of 4/30, its hard not to think that a bit of complacency may be settling in to Trujillo's mind.

-The league's fastest man and defensive center fielder, Ernie Bornstein has been complete trash against RHP and with the emergence of Angelo Barrios' defensive progress in center field, Bornsteinhas lost his starting spot vs RHP to Alex Gomez. Bornstein, who also just signed a new 4 year deal with the club, will have to show some real improvement in spot starts and pinch hitting roles before he can earn that starting spot back.

                        ON THE FARM

-Former 2nd round selection, Danny Ybarra (CL), looks like he has finally put it all together. At just 21 years old, Ybarra will likely get his first taste of BLB play in September.

                        NEXT UP:

-Three at Carolina is always going to be tough, but I'm not going to complain about not having to seen "Furry" this time around. We finish out the week against the always tough, Los Alamos Bandits at home.

Daly isn't even the fastest player on his OWN team. He doesn't want to see Ernie in a foot race.

Knudson and Daly are both 8's. Sort function means nothing.

Proof is in the pudding. How many bags is Speedy over there swiping? I've got Pitcher who can snag more than Bornstein.

Ernie's been top ten every year except his rookie season and top 3 in triples the last two years despite being in the worst park for 3-baggers. He'd be snagging 80+ a year in Virginia. Well he would if he could actually hit the ball this year.

But alas, not all of us have the My Durable Players Never Get Hurt button. Unfortunately, the rest of us have to worry about silly things like that.
