-Highest potential player in the draft (according to my scout), 3 plus pitches, and a 100+mph FB, he will fit right in in Baltimore. Very talented, but it will be up to our coaches to see if we can get enough progress to make him a big league starter. His stamina, work ethic, and intelligence is questionable, but there is a clear upside to him and I just couldn't pass that up.

Two picks here:

RF Dusty Hampton - Whenever I see "some scouts are predicting stardom, but it might be a stretch for me" they generally crack the top 100. With that, he's injured and will really depend on the June rescout to see where he is at. Had player of the week until got hurt. I trust my trainer on this one. Another base stealing fool with some power to boot.

P Mike Alvarado - He was on my top 3 closers list and two of them had been picked. Seemed like the right time to pick him up. Only two pitches, but overall think he will fare fine.

Couldn't pass up the extra 3rd in 2001 from Wash for a slight drop down. Strength in numbers as we continue to rebuilding Pawtucket's minor league system.

I'm "happy" with our second round, but not thrilled.
