  • 2000 HOF Voting

It's that time of year again. Hall of Fame Voting is open.

It's a rather lengthy ballot again this season, so take your time, have your discussions, educate other owners on players you feel strongly about.

Review the candidates and submit your ballots here. We need every owner to vote, even if you wish to submit a blank ballot.

Players must be named on 80% of the ballots in order to be inducted (20 of 24 if all teams submit). A player must receive 50% support in order to remain on next year's ballot if he fails to receive enough support for induction.

Take a moment to review this year's potential class members and feel free to publicly discuss the merits of any player (discussion threads for each player can be found in the Awards/Hall of Fame subforum here. We've set a high bar for induction so no candidate's chances can be taken for granted.

The voting utility will remain open through Monday 01/28 giving everyone ample time to vote.

    Good luck gentlemen!

Vernon Simmonds needs to be voted for. If Cleary and Lewis get in... Old Blue has to be in as well.

I saw that. The voting in this league is as logical as in real life sometimes.

Well, he'll be on the ballot for consideration next year and you can spend that time to remind people why he's the best closer in the BLB (which I think he was).

What's so phenomenal about him is he pitched long enough (because he was good) and well enough to rank 4th all-time in WHIP and 6th in ERA amongst ALL PITCHERS while being used as a closer. Guys need to think about these things when voting.

One player is dangerously close to falling out of the ballot after spending the past two seasons as a borderline candidate.

Again... we have a lot of "non-original" owners. No one gets to bitch about the results without taking 15 minutes and writing about the guy in those threads that Brad makes. You can't assume someone will go in strictly on numbers.

Not if he isn't on the next two ballots, he won't be.

Thank you to everyone for your efforts on the 2000 ballot. Gil O'Moore goes in with 23 of a possible 24 votes. Campo, Gugz and Old Blue receive enough votes to stick on the ballot for next season.

That was my dangerously close comment. Lost momentum over the years. It happens.
