Washington Bats (8-4; Tied for Stout lead)
1-2 vs. California
3-0 @ Batavia
There is a chance the Kodiaks are a much better team than the Muckdogs.
The Good
-Everything is at such a small sample size that it's hard to get too excited but I love the way Yong-koo Lim is playing at the plate. Last year he had just 44 walks compared to 86 strikeouts. Through the first two weeks this year, he already has 10 walks and just three strikeouts. He probably has the weakest power of any starting 3B, (0 XBH in '00, 12 XBH in 126 H for '99) but he plays great defense and can run (14 SB, 1 CS in '99).
-Late Free-Agent signing SP Loren Washington has impressed with two quality starts. So far his 2.63 ERA leads my starters. Aided by (thus far) the best defense in the IL, I think the high contact style of Washington will flourish in, well, Washington.
-Debuting (I believe last sim) at #12 on the Top Pitchers list is Troy Hanback. The fourth-year starter is on pace for a career year. He is one of the best kept secrets in baseball but probably breaks through this year with his first All-Star appearance.
The Bad
-Unfortunately, SP Travis DuFour might just not ever "get it." A week after getting a win against Windy City, DuFour doesn't last to the second inning in a game against Batavia. The Bats bullpen bailed him out but DuFour still has issues and now that he is 27, there really isn't anymore excuses.
The Ugly
-Outfielder Shawn Burton is getting paid $9,000,000 this season. So far, he is second worst amongst my starters in OPS. Worst, goes to the other corner outfielder, Miguel Angel Monchez. Which leads me too...
The Farm
-It might be B.J. time. If he wasn't out for the next few days with a knee contusion, OF B.J. Jobe might be making his BLB debut. Last year in Triple-A he struggled and he did next to nothing in Spring Training but through two weeks at Triple-A this year he is hitting .313 with a .868 OPS. He would fill a huge void at the lead-off spot but I'm not sure he is ready.
The Week Ahead
-Three vs. Virginia, Four vs. Morgantown. Stout week. I get to miss out on Pancho which is nice and have all the games on the road. My team is playing very well but not above too many players abilities. I think we make a good mark this week, 2-1 against the Colonials and 3-1 against the Mohawks.Wilmington Wildcats- 2057-
Seattle Pilots- 2017-2041
Washington Bats - 1979-2013

1-5 last week, 5-1 this week... The 2000 Slammers season can best be summed up so far with this:
