Legere Takes Time Off to Deal with Personal Problems
Monday, April 3rd, 2000: Virginia star Gene Legere will miss an indefinite period of time to tend to "personal issues". Legere refused to elaborate on what exactly the issues were, but added that they were "more important than baseball, that's for sure". Colonials manager Adrián Medina commented that they will "expect to be without Legere for quite some time and that we'll have to plan long-term to be without him".
I deserved this for making like of Morgan's death in the family. Legere is going to take the first 3 weeks off. Hope he comes back a better Pitcher.

Don't you hate when you have that one rookie. who you wanted to play terrible in ST so you could feel justified in not promoting him, play out of his mind and just daring you to mush his ass back to AAA?

          I'm looking at you Lerma.

0-9 to close out Spring Training. That's more like it.

I have some tough decisions to make. Who will suck slightly less than someone else?

Which is the opposite of the typical decisions you make in jail.

Even though BNN, OSA and the rest of the alphabet soup has already decided we will stink in 2000, I thought we had a shot at a wild card if a couple of guys bounced back from a ridiculously bad 1999. But losing Crackpot for the first 7 weeks is going to complicate things.

Love these fake prospect rankings. Picked up a dude off the scrap heap last sim that the Bats cut. Now he debuts at #80. Must be the 40Mil PD budget .

                          #1 pick here we come!

Made them and this team will suck a bit more than it could have because Kel Brown is gonna be out there manning CF.

                            Joy.

Washington Bats - Spring Training: 15-9

                              The Good
The rotation looks as good as it's been since the Bat's glory days. The Free-Agent additions of Nakazo Sasaki and Loren Washington, combined with the growth of Troy Hanback and Travis Dufour, adds to lefty veteran's Ivan Gutirrez and Kel Murphy. I also feel there are a small handful of starters down in Triple-A that can more than help if injuries occur.

                              The Bad
After re-committing to Sammy Knowlton as the starting 3B late last year, I gave him every chance to keep it in Spring Training. But he fell on his face. After working the phones for a starting 3B for the past few weeks, I came up short. If I want to realistically compete, I'm going to need some production from third. The job was won by Yong-Koo Lim, who is younger, faster and a better defender than Knowlton. In 233 career BLB games, Lim has one HR. ONE!

                              The Ugly
Losing Don Bolton for the season is pretty shitty. A former 1st-round pick who had a career year last year. My bullpen is deep, sure. But Bolton was expected to be a big part of this year's squad. Love paying a RP $3.5 million to sit out the year as well.

                              The Minors
After so-so Spring Training debuts, top prospects CF BJ Jobe and 3B Tyler McLouth will go back down to Triple-A. My OF is already crowded so the odds were stacked against Jobe, but with the lackluster players at third for my club, McLouth could be back up if he starts out hot in Triple-A.

                              This Week
3 @ Los Alamos, 3 vs. Windy City. By the way, is this the EXACT same schedule as last year? Cool... oh well. This team was on a run in September-October, carried over to Spring Training and the Pre-Season predictions. The Bats struggled to start the year last year so I would really like to see something from my squad this week. I'll say, 1-2 @ Los Alamos and 2-1 vs. Windy City.
