Yes, it's a rule and it prevents storing guys in the minors for a decade. Once they're out of options, they have to clear waivers to start the season.

Calling a player up for ST uses an option year?

If they're out of options (like a DC Single A'er aka 34 years old), they have to pass waivers to move back down.

Not exactly a spring training t-shirt slogan for your players, is it.

Fantastic. Elijah Hanson takes a huge ratings hit. Skinner, Reber, and Dugan all go down in my scouts eyes as well. That's what $31 mill in player development will do for ya!

Yeah I was hoping the "lock" was a way to stop it. There were some kids I wanted up just not this many. In the end I'll do it manually. The guys in question arent out of options at this pt. Next season I'll just DFA the kids I want to avoid spring training after the Rule V draft. Simple.

It's not about being on a team, it's about being on the 40 man. But, good call on drawing attention to it so people will be looking to pummel your waivers next off-season.

                              In the offseason, doubt it.

So... you think they won't clear waivers post ST, but will in the off-season? Ok.
