Some very unusual extensions this go around.

The Von Haynes signing though I think was huge for Dave. Older player or not, can't let a guy like that walk.

I have no idea what Carlos is up to and Don Davis must have compromising pics of Gyrodork.

Methinks there may be more than meets the eye to that deal. Doesn't make sense with what he's been saying.

I get confused about this every year. Sorry in advance.

I have two numbers here: $ for free agents, and $ for extensions.

Which one of those tells me how much I have to sign guys this offseason?

I'm confused because it seems like I have conflicting information here.

The $ for free agents seems like the right numbers based on the budget my owner gave me and the math.

However, I'm confused because when I try to offer any of my pending free agents a contract for next season (2000), it seems to be subtracting the offered amount from the $ for extensions, not the $ for free agents.

So what's actually going on here? Can someone explain this to me like I'm five?

So how long has anyone tried to go without hiring a scout? Just curious.

I add the "projected budget for NEXT season + cash available". To me, it looks like you have 11+ million for the offseason. This also included your PROJECTED arbitration cases and you scouting and development figures from 99 so you can sink your development and scouting to free up some money.

                      Anyway, hope that helps.

The free agents money is incomplete because it's only looking at 1999 right now. It's not taking into account the money you'll have for 2000 since the free agency period/new year hasn't started yet.

Basically, the free agent money is acting as if the season is going on right now and you have X amount of money for 1999.

I'm sure the best way to judge this is to look at your new budget, add cash and subtract your payroll and staff expenses for 2000. That will tell you your Free Agent money for 2000.

Nothing is concrete yet because arbitration hasn't happened. So, the Owner is basically in control right now. After arbitration, it should clear up some.

I feel like one owner tried this years and years ago (in-game) and failed miserably at it.

Clay, are the "team options" still up in the air or has that happened already? I keep forgetting when that happens.
