Wasn't Cy Young pretty average for a very long time?

And the wins came from longevity and not dominance?

The internet and stats tell me no. He was better with age, but he was still damn good earlier.

From 23-30 he was 216-122, 3.17 ERA. Twice led the league in Wins and had only two sub 3 ERA season in 8 years.

From 31-38 he was 207-113, 2.21 ERA. Three times leading the league Wins and had one season of a plus 3 ERA in 8 years.

From 39-44 he was 88-81, 2.34 ERA. Once leading the league in Losses. He had two seasons of a plus 3 ERA in those 6 years.

I'm ignoring WHIP and just using standard stats here. His WHIP was high before he turned 30, but while playing till 44 certainly helped him win 511 career games, he did most of his winning when he was younger.

Has it really been that long Linty?

I think they are all 7 games, but I wouldn't know for sure since I rarely make it out of the first round.

Evolution. Your time will come. Maybe.

As far as the Pancho comparisons, I'd love to see how Sandy Koufax would've fared had he pitched into his 30's.

What Walter Johnson did from 1910-1919 was pretty remarkable. Throw in his '24 and '25 seasons too.

Also, check out Tom Seaver's WHIP from 1969-1981.

                            What's the breakdown?

                            2-3-2?

I feel for you. The "Scrubs" have been duping the local populace for century.

LA breaks the 100 wins barrier! The pitching was good and the bats hit well enough to stay ahead. I'm just happy we didn't have a second half collapse like last year. Bring on the playoffs!
