To bad the Ale race isn't settled. You can almost bolt this baby to the end of the regular season with no real races left until then.
Speaking of the lone race, Maine just got two key injuries so might not have the bullets to get over the hump. This is the point where once again the game proves me wrong and they win 10 out of the next 11 games.
So Toiguchi is up to 37 HR. He shattered the Denver single season home run record passing Zamarida's 34. Impressive work. He's now one RBI away from 100. Would be a nice season to see him get there.
Rex Morgan has had a beast (yes, on purpose) of a September. He's at 95 RBI on the year. Not sure he will get to 100 and continue his career streak. But he's raised his average to .299 and he's not batting .296 with Denver (good for fifth in the league, somehow). His .406 OBP is second in the DL, he's fifth in slugging at .496 and fourth in OPS (.904). Performing as I hoped. Can't wait to get a full season out of him in 2000.
Meanwhile, Kel Brown went from hitting 20 home runs at the break and looking like a serious contender (if you somehow overlooked his batting average) for Stout Slugger to hitting two more home runs the rest of the way and has been absolutely awful.
Same for Marv Goodman. Remember him? He made the All Star team. Wow...
This is what can happen if you have a Very High for Desire to Win.
Harrison Takes Out Frustrations on Locker, Suffers Consequences
Sunday, September 26th, 1999: After suffering through yet another heartbreaking loss, Batavia starting pitcher Wes Harrison took his frustration out in the clubhouse. At first, Harrison expressed his rage by shouting loudly and overturning a water cooler. However, the tantrum took a particularly ugly turn when Harrison decided to take his anger out on his locker. "He unleashed a couple swift jabs to the metal door, then I saw him clutching his hand and wincing," said teammate Dane Stanton. "I knew right then he'd hurt himself pretty bad." X-rays confirmed that Harrison had in fact fractured his hand. "He's gonna be out for at least a month," said manager Don Clark. "He really needs to learn to control his anger. Not having him available is gonna be a major setback for our team." The team will explore free agent and trade options, but may be forced to fill Harrison's position internally.
I'd be ok with simming a few seasons actually. So much for our late push. Looking forward to the playoffs however. Most interesting post season in a while.

2-5 sim but I expected to have a power outage sitting Rex and a few others for significant time during the week. However, I don't like seeing us lose 4 straight like this as we head into the final week and into the playoffs.

Remember when we use to sim an entire season over a Sunday? Well, except when I was trading then that would delay things.
