    NEXT SIM: Wednesday

    ***

    God Speed!!!

    ***

We'll hammer out the playoff schedule later in the week. Not sure I'll change anything because of the holiday, but if playoff teams are traveling, we'll adjust accordingly.

Just can't seem to get this done. Despite the fact that we're now nine games ahead of Hartford in the Pythagorean standings, we're three games back in the ones that matter.

Still two weeks left, including a four-game home set against Hartford to end the year.

4-2 this week, putting us 11 up over Dallas and Denver, putting our magic number at 3.

Brought up Frisco Cueller to go 6-man down the stretch and ensure everyone is rested, and he responds with 6.1 IP of 1-run ball in his first start. Granted it was against Pittsburgh, but still nice to see.

In other news, RJ Curtis seems to finally be rounding into form (see what I did there?) with a 1.74 ERA in 3 September starts.

The pitching went to total crap in the second half.

We were 2nd or 3rd in runs allowed at the break. We are now 9th. Just crazy to see these guys collapse despite no scouting signs of decline. Just all of them (young and old) started pitching much poorly except for maybe Fitzgerald.

Its like it snowballs. In 1996 I kept waiting.....and waiting for my top two pitchers to come around. It never did and finally last month of the season the whole team collapsed.

As for the scouting, I noticed it just lags.(Both up and down)

Sometimes, you just have to go by stats.

BTW- Pawtucket 3-3. Drafting #5 currently.

                    5-1 including 2/3 from Carolina.

We've clinched the IL wildcard as the IL playoffs seem pretty much set. In the last two weeks, our most injury prone players and stars will get plenty of rest as we prepare for the impending sweep ahead of us.

Also, please consider LMR in the Stout Slugger vote when the time comes. Maybe not a first place vote, but the man deserves mention with the season he is having.

Did you get signoff on LMR? Good season, but I'm not sure he gets to go initials only.

Hey, I started calling him LMR last season. I'm almost sure someone else actually called him LMR before I did. I think that's where I got the idea to call him LMR.

                        He's LMR damnit!

                          It's a collapse and a half.

Stats are not enough right now. I'll have to see what guys look like next season because with mostly everyone collapsing at the same time, it's hard for me to judge if it's age for some guys or just complete bad luck.

And though I love having Lindsey and Bollati on my team, I do regret giving them extensions so early. Bollati probably gets a smaller deal if I negotiate after this season, and Lindsey still has a year left before his extension.

I think I'll survive it (financially) but I'm reminded of why I don't like giving extensions out until it's time to negotiate at season's end.
