Do we know this for certain?

And if so, how and why did he become fat? And how do I make him not fat?

And to whoever asked, no, I didn't minor league rehab him.

        Yes, we do.

Here's his player page from last season, courtesy of Google cache.

He's gained eight pounds in the last year. That seems like a lot of weight for one year.

        • Huh. I have always been under the impression that height and weight are mostly, if not entirely, cosmetic. And without looking, I'm sure I could find many examples in BLB of skinny players doing poorly and fat players doing well. I could see his performance being the result of recent injury(s), but it would surprise me if it were because he is "fat."

          • Although height and weight have no direct impact on player performance, they do affect the appearance of the player if you are using fictional pictures. Players with a higher BMI (body mass index) will appear noticeably heavier. Player weight can change over time.

              Injury + low work ethic.

He should be fine next year.

He just came back from a serious injury. Some guys don't bounce back that quickly.

Consider that he didn't have a spring training. So you threw him into the majors where he hasn't thrown in months and had to face BLB talent.

I think - even if Markus won't admit it - that ratings take a hit during an injury and take time to return to normal. We can't see it. A scout can't see it. It's just realism that's hard coded.

I also think that playing is how you regain those rating and a rehab assignment would have benefitted him a bit.

I've had very good results from rehab assigning pitchers. It's amazing how bad they look in their first couple starts at AAA and then suddenly get dominant and carry that for some time into the BLB.

But my very mediocre point here is that he should be fine so long as he didn't take a ratings hit. You just might need to have him play through it.

Edit. Oops. He did have a spring training. But still he sat for three months. He's rusty. This has been confirmed in OOTP as a factor affecting performance.

Not a direct relationship, no, but certainly an indirect relationship.

The weight gain is a symptom of other things going on with his development.

It could be from not playing. I wonder.

Maybe he's depressed. I'll take Clay's theory. You broke him with that ring, Dave.
