Another 3-3 sim with 2 10th inning wins over Baltimore. Signs of life in Davenport but nothing to write home to mother about.

Tobs continue to have a losing record since the all-star break. Moved Marlon Huffman from the pen to the rotation and he had a good game. That's about it.

It appears we were flying too close to the sun because we have come crashing back to earth lately.

3-3 and thanks to Indy having a crappy week, actually gained two games to move within three.

Dallas is enjoying a very strong past two months.
Really need September to be a great month.

A couple things I want to note.

Kel Brown hit his first home run in over two months. This was the guy leading the DL in home runs at the break. He was stuck on 20 forever.

Meanwhile, Toiguchi does what Brown was meant to do. With a home run this week, Toi became just the fifth Bull - joining Rochester, Hamlet, Zamarida and Sinclair - to hit 30 home runs in a single season.

Mr. Bull (apologies to Nelson and Virginia) Pedro Zamarida is the single season leader with 34. YoToi has a month to surpass him.

If Maine somehow wins the Ale, we'll be expecting some sort of gift in the mail.

4-2 as we somehow manage to sweep Virginia and drop two to Davenport in the same week. I guess the silver lining is that we are only 12 back vs. California with a month and some change remaining. Not going to catch them, but it looks like we may have an outside chance of catching VA for that 2nd best IL record. Probably not though since we all have a lot of divisional games left and The Porter>>>>>>The Stout.

At this time, I have to wonder what kind of numbers LMR would have put up if I had given him a chance earlier in the season. The man has been Stout Slugger-ish ever since he got starter reps. Thanks, Carlos.

We also get two young players back, Pat Marlin and Nagisa Kobayashi, neither of which will be on the roster for the playoffs, but will maybe see a few a starts here and there in a rehab type of role since the AAA season will be over by the time they get off the DL.

                    Good

Keifer has added a full inning per start this season.
Got a few nice arms coming up next season to help out a struggling staff.
Not emlinated from division race yet

                    Bad

Gaston is in a hitting funk as are quite a few starters.
Starters now getting out of the first inning quite often really

I figured he would hit well, but not this well. He's way above his career average. Amazing.

Hector Gonzalez is still the walk machine and defender I wanted. He has slumped these past two months. But everyone on my team has slumped the past two months.

I have no idea who we think we are taking series from Cali and Virginia this month. Gotta say though to be .500 with this lineup is a great accomplishment. If these pitchers were on a good team they'd be household names.

Pretty happy with my "two pitch" starting pitcher experiment. Angelo Gonzales. This guy is the ultimate pitcher in my opinion. Can start, relieve, close games. He's done it all for 8 years. And at only 27 he should be able to keep it up for a while. He'll never be in the hall of fame or get much glory, but for what he's meant to our team he will be in the ring of honor for us someday. Don't know if many guys have his versatility.

Pretty sweet. I also like the fact that outside of Single A, he didn't really show too many signs but you brought him up anyway with whatever you saw going on an he still did well. He pretty much made the jump from A to the BLB.

I really like to see unpredictability like that.

Although lefties generally hit better in Phillips Field, he's doing pretty well everywhere else as well. Its going to be a very tough decision to extend him or not this off-season.
