Think I got a steal off the waiver wire in Alex Rivas.
Originally a Slammer where he spent a lot of time in the pen, we sent him to Carolina in a deal that got us back Ivan Martinez. Rivas had pretty decent success starting until 98, when he moved back to the pen - still had a nice season though. Full time out of the pen in 99 but wanting a spot in the rotation, Rivas struggled. Still only 30 though. We'll see.

I was trying to wrap my head around how I didn't place a claim on him.
Then I realized it was the salary.
He promptly threw 4 innings allowing zero runs against me.
Good job. Also what happened to Metcalf? How did I miss him?
Overall a poor week for the Bulls. With the Clowns performing high, the Bulls missed on an opportunity to capitalize and dropped to 4 games back of Indianapolis. A few costly errors also pushed the team defense to 2nd, though even Syracuse's barrage of runs in the last game of the series didn't hurt the Team ERA - still 2nd in the DL.
Lim - truly one of the most interesting stories this year. He's been great - 1.71 ERA - but even more amazing, a 1.33 WHIP for a guy with his control. 18 walks in 21 innings... not great... but not horrible either for a guy with a 2 for control. On top of that... he's not even striking that many guys out which is the only way he theoretically would be servicable.
Not sure how long it will last... but I'm sure it's been fun so far.

I can tell you what it is.
.185 BABIP.
That's the major difference in my opinion. I tried to surround him (and my entire staff, really) with infielders that can get to ground balls (considering he's a ground ball pitcher) and balls are finding gloves rather than holes.
10 hits allowed in 21 innings. He will walk a guy, but he doesn't give up enough fly balls (11 HR in 455 career innings) to have it truly hurt him. And when you aren't giving up line drives or fly balls, it takes three hits to score a guy.
We're on pace for the worst season in team history. All of a sudden we can't do anything right. I think the Javelinas are headed for a very long playoff drout.
Anyone know about prorated contracts? Say you sign a guy this sim for $1,000,000. We only have 4 months of the season left. So would he only end up getting paid about $660,000? Or would get the full $1,000,000?
