Love the signing. Throughout the years he's been my favorite Colonial.

Keep in mind, Virginia is right there. A 5-1 week. They aren't ready to give up their IL crown.
I've thought (and said) for years that I felt when my reign in the IL was over it was likely going to California. BUT... I'm not quite ready yet.

Hopefully they are just starting out hot and will cool down after the All-Star break. I doubt it though. I've always thought Mashburn would eventually become Woodbury-esque at the plate.

Of course its the same formula. Be terrible and draft high for a decade.

That Fujii kid responded well to his injury. Guess he got that "Rookie of the Year" treatment... his power showed up.

Lots of choices for ROY this year in the IL (so far).

                  Fujii (CAL)
                  Brown (CAR)
                  Reed (BAL)
                  Hernandez (LAM)
                  Burns (CAR)

                  Best class in recent memory.

Don't sleep on Johnny Davis. He's getting tougher to keep out of the daily lineup. Might be too far behind statistically if he doesn't play everyday soon, but he's feeling like a legit Rookie.

Formula is screwed up, but the point remains the same. That's disheartening to see if you're in his division.

                            Believe, me it is.

Especially since it seems like every week, I'm having someone go down to injury. I think we'll turn it up enough to make the playoffs but with Virginia, Cali, and Carolina, I'm definitely questioning our chances to do any better than last year.

Should be. Under 125 abs last season.

The future's so bright I gotta wear shades. Things are looking up for 2002. We've been switching off with Indy for top farm system. We now have 6 top 100 SP's along with some good bats. Hopefully after the draft class is entered we will add some more offensive help.

Herberholtz is quietly off to a great start this year. The 25 yr old has posted a 2.29 ERA so far and is showing signs of being able to anchor what should be a solid staff in a few years.

Angelo Gonazles my 2 pitch reliever so far is also playing well in his SP stint. He's been on my team forever and only at 27 has posted a 2.28 ERA so far. He's always showed signs of being able to start, so far so good. Pitching for sure will not be our problem down the road.

Our hitting as expected is atrocious. But there isn't more than a couple of guys that will even be on this team in a few years. They're just placeholders at this point. I'm amazed we're not worse this year. But the pitching is holding and at this point the hitters that are good are all slumping.

Only a few more years of this crap.
