Maine brought back Sasaki in the off-season and he's been really good for them. Sasaki went 8 strong before handing the ball to Ross to close it out.
Bollati pitched well - 8 IP, 3 R (2 ER), 6 K. (Bollati has now thrown at least 8 innings in four of his last five starts) He had an early lead but gave up runs in the 5th, 6th and 7th. Lim threw an inning to keep things close, but Hector Gonzalez - pinch hitting for Pepe Gonzalez - struck out to end the game with Rex Morgan standing on 1st.

Another one-run game. Another win for Mens. Mens overcame a tough 6th inning to pitch 8 innings and move to 4-0. K. Lim saved his 14th game.
Chad Melson went 3-4 hitting his first home run of the season.
A little scare in the bottom of the 8th. Rex Morgan doubled and stumbled on his way to second, injuring his thumb. He was taken out of the game, but X-Ray's were negative and the injury is only a bruise. Fans across Windy City sighed relief.

Surprise, another one-run game! Tough loss for Troy Clark. Cruising to a 4-1 lead, he collapsed in the 7th inning giving up 5 runs. Miyauchi came in to stop the bleeding but it was too late. Gutierrez settled down and Uchida picked up his 7th save.
Kel Brown went 2-3 hitting his 10th home run in the losing effort. Goodman picked up his 2nd triple and two hits.

The defending champs struggled in this three-game set. The 22-year-old sensation Zach Mueller pitched another strong game, improving to 2-1 with a 2.85 ERA. Mueller surrendered one run in 8 innings.
He was backed by Marv Goodman (16th double and 4th home run) and Toiguchi (DL-leading 14th home run and 2nd triple). Chad Melson also had another good game driving in 2 runs on 2 hits.

Pete Fitzgerald missed out on his 4th win of the year when a 65-minute rain delay knocked him out of the game in the 5th. He gave up just one run.
The pen held up. Julian Rodriguez getting the win. Alejandro Rodriguez and Curt Stewart each with a hold throwing a scoreless inning each. K. Lim with his 15th save on the year.
Rex Morgan showed no ill-effects from his thumb bruise hitting his 7th home run of the year (3rd in Denver). His two-run shot in the top of the 1st was all the offense the Bulls needed.
Marv Goodman punched in 3 runs despite going 0-3. He scored reaching on a fielder's choice, an error and a hit by pitch.

The Dukes jumped out ahead early scoring a run in the 2nd, but Chuck Lindsey settled in quickly and finished giving up just that one run over 8 innings to move to 3-3 on the year. K. Lim's name was called upon again to shut the door and earn his BLB-leading 16th save.
Goodman completed a solid week hitting his 5th home run in 1999, a two-run shot in the 3rd that settled the score early.
Cy Gray showed some life going 2-3. The young short stop is only hitting .201 for the year, but remains in the lineup for his defense and ability to draw walks.
Overall the offense is coming around, albeit slowly. The pitching remains solid - now 2nd in Runs Allowed. The defense continues to lead the DL with a .730 Defense Efficiency. The bullpen also had its best week of the year giving up no runs in 11 innings.
Also Maeda joined that 2,000 hit active list this week.

Also re-upped in Virginia at a "discount". This may be the first time I've actually seen a hometown discount. His initial asking price was $22.0 per. We went back and forth throughout ST and he finally settled at $17.0. Too much maybe for a 33 year old, but he's my guy.
